Mystery mask in the Vincent Drug store scene in H4 answered.

For many years the mask in the focus of the initial scene inside the store was unknown to the hobby, no one has one that I know of.

I have seen some theorizing that it was just a mask quickly made by someone on the film crew to be used in that scene. Turns out that wasn’t the case, it was actually a store bought mask like the others in that store aside the Shape mask. It being made by the company Mr. Mask had crossed my mind as they made a lot of hooded masks with flashing eyes but the look of cheap latex and different paint styles were throwing me off.

Turns out it was indeed a Mr. Mask mask as proven by the Mr. Mask catalog photo. It was a later one as it’s not in any of the older Mr. Mask catalogs I have. I have had many Mr. Mask masks in my collection and they were all good quality, durable latex… some almost like vinyl. All of the ones I had appeared in the older catalogs. I found out the Mr. Mask company was sold to Alexander Costumes in the late ‘80s. I would wager that Alexander Costumes used poor quality latex and that the one seen in the Vincent Drug scene was an Alexander Costumes production mask, that would explain why it appears to be casted with cheap latex and had different paint style. With it being casted in cheap latex, it could be why none has turned up so far whereas many older Mr. Mask masks are still around in pristine condition.
