NAG 75K - Old Mold vs New Mold?

I posted this question in a recent thread and thought I would get a better response by starting a new thread.

How does the 75K new mold differ from the old 75K mold? What "tweeks "did Nik make? Just curious because I own an AHG 75K - H1 from the old mold and am in the cue with JC with a blank of the new mold.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Seeing a new mold 75k in person and owning 3 old mold 75k’s The difference that I see are as followed:

The Nose has been slimmed down,
The ears have been tweaked slightly
& that’s all I really see from personal
experience with them.

Not being biased but I like the old mold
much much more than the newer. It just
has a more Myers vibe…it’s got that it
factor.

Hopefully can grab an MMK in the future
to see some improvement off the 75k

Good post man.

Nik has never actually came out and gave info on what has been retooled on the sculpt,he does this quite often on retooled masks and it is often left to our own eyes on what we see the differences to be,as an owner of 5 75k’s “3 old mold’s” and “2 New Molds” it is clear to see that the ears have been worked and the nose has been slimmed down, the neck lines appear different aswell, there seems to have been some work undergone on the profile aswell, also’ and the Cheek Hooks definitely have more detail and travel and the Mouth/Lips pop more aswell so it would be a safe bet that there has been work in that area also,i personally think the New Mold makes the better Myers of the two molds and it was definitely a step in the right direction by Nik on the retooling,so with that said here is my verdict…

Old Mold = Sexy
New Mold = Super Sexy

From what i can tell, details are more pronounced, and it looks better overall.

I assumed the new mould was just a slight reshaping of the old. If Nik did actually retool the old mould, why didn’t he add details that are missing on the 75k? e.g. crows feet, etc.

Thanks for all the input. - it helps!

Interesting that opinions on which is more accurate or liked goes both ways. I guess that shows how subjective this art is.

My AHG 75K - Old mold sits right next to my #7 MMK Kirk. The feature are definitely more subtle on the mask with the thinner pull - (MMK Kirk). Obviously gravity affects the integrity of the features of a thinner pull (like the Hero). I constantly compare them. In the H1 cue with JC is my 75K new mold blank and also an MMK blank. Not to confuse this thread with the MMK because I know that thread of opinions is a whole separate discussion (mouth, lips, chin, nose, etc.).

Any pictures of the 75K old mold next to the new mold would help…along with opinions.

Thanks again, It’s amazing what I have learned here.

BTW - I rarely have posted here - not for any reasons but do read all the time. Been collecting since 2004 with over 20 plus mask that have been in and out of my possession.

Hey C, as you know I have quite a few blanks of each in question. I will try to find the time later tonight or tomorrow to snap a few pics of old vs new pics. I am on the fence about which I like best… I’d probably lean towards the old mold. But I get to see a lot of blanks come through here, and each blank has it’s own thing going on, and no 2 looks the same to me… old or new. It all come down to the particular copy in hand. I’ll call you later tonight if I get a chance.

JC

The old mold was truer to the mask it was created from, so for that reason I own an old mold version.

Edit #1.

I prefer the old mold, I just can’t get used to the skinny nose on the new mold. The Old has a flavour of Myers that the new doesn’t have for me.

Here’s the 75k’s father. If somebody who has the old & new mold takes a pic the same as the below, we can get a good idea of whats closer/what tweaks were made & wrap this up nice & tidy…Bingo Bango…Bingo…Bango.

Nik has never actually admitted the 75k came from the 98 Shat Proto though has he.lol

I’m not trying to talk about Nik. It’s already been proven though. Long ago.

Has it ? proven you say ?..ummm must have missed that one then.

…Obviously.

The difference and how much more detail there is in the new mold is astonishing’ it really is.

Good deal… Out of the two, i like the darker one a little more but i like the nose on the lighter one a bit better…

Ant… come on, that 98 proto surfaces, and after a few days disapears to a ‘private’ collector though the seller told a few people he sold it to Nik and to keep it hush as Nik didn’t want anyone knowing but as with anything, word spreads quick, then Nik releases the 75K shortly after which has pull defects special to the 98 proto alone matching 100% to the 98 proto mask. I think we are all very lucky to have access to the 75K, but someone with your eye for detail is nuts to think otherwise in this situation.

I like the fact that the new mold seems to have a prominent “v” on the forehead and more defined cheek hooks. I guess I wish the old mold had that crispy detail. Of course I’m basing my opinion on what I see in pics as I have never seen either of those masks in person.
