Thanks y’all! I have my first 98 Proto coming in the mail on Thursday. I really feel at this point and time it is the most accurate mold on the market. I was just wondering the history of it. I’ll post pics and vids when I shows up. (As I always do.)

I’m fortunate enough to own the first ever/prototype of the 98 prto which was gifted to Freddy Loper by Nik and through a Labour of love became his personal copy/keeper.
Imho this is the most accurate original “hero” looking mask I have ever had the luck/pleasure of owning.

Yep I’d have to agree with the others here. I’ve owned nearly every high end Myers mask and to me the 98 proto is the best for H1.

Hey all,

Unearthing an old topic however felt what I was going to share was relevant and best place here.

Like many I’m a big fan of the 98 proto so decided to document its versatility for those less familiar or generally interested in getting this mask.

The mask in the photos is my 2021 NAG 98 proto special finished by the talented Michael Fadian 2023.

The mask sits comfortably and adopts a wider face profile as you’d expect. Now watch what happens when I simulate Nick’s hair by slightly padding the crown of my head.

The padding causes the mask to rise slightly and hug the face contours, but not only that, depending on how I manipulate my jaw I’m able to apply a natural stretch as it would have occurred on set. This is really handy when wishing to recreate those certain H1 scenes.

Here’s the same mask with appropriate side spot lighting in an attempt to recreate the iconic phone shot. It could have done with a touch more stretch to achieve the appropriate lip pucker however I was overall really pleased with how accurate the 98 came across. (Note to self, hold phone higher and open collar wider)

I don’t make a habit of stretching my proto and you can rest assured it’s given plenty of TLC and cleaning before going back into an anti dust/UV storage display.
