NAG 98 Proto Story?

Can anyone give a quick history on how this mold came to be? I know it’s a slightly different version than the 75. That’s about all I know.

I thought the 98 don post Kirk supposedly wasn’t very popular with collectors. At least it says that in the gallery

Well the 98 Proto was different than the 98/99 that hit the shelves. The one that hit the shelves is lacking in detail and kind of bloated, which is why it makes a great H2.
The 98 Proto though (as the classic story goes) is a “casting of a laser scanned and enlarged 75 Kirk”, but given the time this happened that would have been far too expensive and unlikely. It’s more likely, in my opinion, that it was a kirk casting or an enlarged Kirk pull.

Thanks y’all! I have my first 98 Proto coming in the mail on Thursday. I really feel at this point and time it is the most accurate mold on the market. I was just wondering the history of it. I’ll post pics and vids when I shows up. (As I always do.)

I LOVE my pair of 98 protos from James Best I’ve ever owned. Because of all these threads I will be hunting for a KH now tho

I’m fortunate enough to own the first ever/prototype of the 98 prto which was gifted to Freddy Loper by Nik and through a Labour of love became his personal copy/keeper.
Imho this is the most accurate original “hero” looking mask I have ever had the luck/pleasure of owning.
These 98s are not to be scoffed at
