need a little help from rz fans an mm.net family

hey gang, ok so im doing destroyer blank an was just looking for a little help. where can i buy hair is there places that are not online like joann fabrics? i plan on making this blank the most screen accurate rz i have owned ill leave it up to you guys to decide at the end. i have a bunch of dp hair could this work?

the paint
now i wanna get my paint to be accurate i think curtis, ceaser, has the best looking paint an not too shabby for his first job, so i kind of wanna go for that. any ideas on how to achieve the perfect yellows an greens? should i paint him white and weather him to get a grey look or paint him that way?

the eyes and nose
i have never done a blank before what is the best way to cut the nose holes?

any tips or help is awesome please and thank you forgive me for so many questions.

Hair:The hair used was Crepe wool. I don’t know where you can get that besides online. Don Post mask hair wouldn’t give it the right look.
Paint: I’d start with a light gray basecoat, and just keep adding darker layers untill you get the color you want.
I hand paint the scars with latex paint thinned with ammonia.
Cutting: A sharp pair of surgical scissors, or if you’re good enough, an exacto knife.

Thats were I get my Crepe wool at really fast shipping. Just soak it in hot water after you unbraid it to get it to straighten out (then hang to dry).
And for the cutting I used an exacto knife, take your time and cut very slow. And I suck at paint so I’ll leave that up to somone els to help you on LOL.

thanks guys any help is appreciated should the base coat be latex paint? i have technically never even haired a myers this is gonna be so hard lol

Yeah base coat deff mix liquid latex with the accrilic paint. And watch the you tube vid “how to hair a myers mask” its a wonderfull vid. Staight to the point.

okay i went to that site…do i want 1 OZ of hair for one mask? what glue do i buy?

and for paint…can i buy liquid latex to mix with the paint at a store?

On that site o listed your gonna want to get about 6 lengths so quantity will be 6 . I use elmers rubber cement for the hair its latex based so it bonds very well. and I bought 1 qt. Of liquid latex at a holloween store; I think party city carries it.

thanks alot man! this is going to be a blast ill definately be doing progress pictures with him. i was gonna go by the you tube vid to hair him, but someone said the rz mask was haired a different way is this true?

Yeah, well kinda. Its really hard to explain, did you ever see scotts pics when he was hairing a mask? That vid. Gives u a general idea of the rowing. The hair is going to be longer on the rz mask, and the forward facing front rows you will want to lay 4,5,or 6 rows like that to get that “full” look up there. Then the vid helps with the last step with the hot glue/hairline of laying them forward rows back… Lol its not easy and its nerve racking doing a hair job lol.

na i didnt see that about scott, the hardest part looks like it will be forming a hairline! everytime i see a first try hair job they are usually they are pretty decent i must say. so thats confidence i also would like to think i have the eye for detail! ill definately give it all i got, i plan on doing the whole rz mask line up in destroyer blank, i only have one on the way though which will be h1 for my first attempt ever.

Yah, just go for it! Lol as long as u take your time and dont rush it, I’m sure it will look sick. I also pre-draw the hair line with a sharpi marker that will be the line that you lay the hot glue directly on. Good luck my friend!!! :drinkers:  can’t wait for some WIP pics!
Jim.

wow the outline idea lol im so dumb and didnt think of that, perfect, so i dont have to use a hot glue i can do the stuff you said? i appreciate everything ill have to hook you up

The only spot you’ll use the hot glue is on the hair line at the end like in that vid. Only use a thin line of it, then you fold the forward rowes back kinda pull the hair tight and (were the hot glue is/hair line) press the hair onto the hairline/hot glue. Only a thin line because you don’t want the glue squeezing out infront of the hairline u know? Use elmers rubber.cement for everything els though.

dang! i hate hot glue and have never used wouldn that like burn your hand?

Nope theres a cusion of hair between your hand and the hot glue , I’m a welder, I dont feel heat in my hands though lol

lol your the man jim ! i think you and i chatted on facebook? i showed you my half mask?

-Alex
