I am looking at getting my first ‘real’ H1 mask right now, and I am down to a few choices and thought I’d see what you all thought, seeing as you’re way more experienced than me (I’m very new to this).
Firstly, I was looking at the Night Owl Creep. I’ve seen a lot of good reviews on the mask, though I’ve also heard that it can be hit or miss.
The second option is a NAG mask, specifically the Nightmare.
I would be open to other NAG options becuase I hear they are very good masks, but I am a little concerned about price. I am looking to stay around $350, which is why the Nightmare ($250 I hear) and the Creep ($335 shipped) are the most appealing right now. I love the look of a NAG PS78, but am not sure what the price is (does anyone know?).
Next option in line would be a Halloweenman.
And finally, I had considered getting a ToTS H1 and have it rehauled, by Michael at mdf_effects on Instagram. Does anyone have any experience here?
I am looking for some feedback here so any help is appreciated.
I would aim for the Creep. New one straight from the man himself Justin may take 6 months to a year to get. He’s extremely busy with TOTS etc. Now if you don’t mind a used one well then eBay is your best bet. I prefer that way myself!
Btw have you seen Rowland’s DIY H1? It looks badass.
Go for an I.D mask instead of the rush hack job that is the PS78 by NAG, or a Second hand Creep if you can find one, there is also the Night Owl Shat which is also the same as the Creep but you can have an artist finish it, there’s also the One Good Scare by Shape Killer Studios, avoid NAG at all costs, cause EVERY mask is just a recast/retool of one kirk, I also recommend checking out the Physco Killer V2 by Nitram Productions, alternatively, you could get a Hiro mask by Sinister Studios and send it to an artist to refinish the paint, cause it’'s got a really good sculpt and with the right finishing, can outshine any NAG mask
I would say a creep, or Chris Morgan is putting out some very nice H1 masks, GKY is one and I believe he has a new one called 99k right now. I think he’s only on Facebook. Niks finishing isn’t my favorite but creeps and Chris Morgan’s H1’s always look great to me
Of your options you listed! I say the Nightmare all the way, it’s my favorite of those options and looks fucking awesome!
As for MDF, I’ve spoke with him a bunch and he’s a super cool guy and his work is clearly stellar also. He’s up there beside JC in terms of finishers IMO, I’ve never heard anything but great stuff about the way he conducts business so no matter what you get him finishing it would definitely push it over the top!
The 99k technically isn’t “new.” We have had 99 blanks for the longest time, only difference is, Chris does have a “more detailed”, larger version. Which would probably be more superior to the originals. None the less, it is a bad ass mask.
Regardless what you go for, it’s going to take immense patience. I personally like the creep more than nag but that’s just preference. ( unless it’s eBay ) and yes nag tends to just stick to Facebook
If I were starting from scratch creating my own piece ( the forever piece )
I go with the creep, and then get it rehauled by either Falco or JC . Depending on the time. But if it’s your forever piece, the time wouldn’t really matter.
That would be my go to. I hope it helps [emoji1374]
I vote goes to the Creep every time, I’ve been around a while here and have been through so many masks it’s not even funny. The Creep was/is a game changer and Justin is at the top of his field.
Best H1s IMO are the 99 Shat, either from Darren Perks or Chris Morgan, The Nightowl Creep and Shat, NAG Nightmare as well is good, as well as the H1SM and The Jerk from Rowland Kelly. (Jerk is probably one of the best ones I’ve seen in a bit)
You guys are awesome, thanks so much. I think I’ll be going with the creep then, and depending on how it comes out may be sending it somewhere for a little rehaul.
Michael Fadian is an awesome guy and his work is amazing! I’ve been getting my masks (the higher end ones I don’t do myself) rehauled by him since he first started. Whatever mask you decide on, have him rehaul/finish it. You won’t be disappointed. He did my Creep, DIY, HMan, and a TOTS Boogeyman and they look screen accurate AF.
