I think this looks pretty decent for a mass-produced Myers. It’s been awhile since i’ve been impressed with one of the mass-produced ones.

I didn’t say anything about DPS or Dennis. The pose cracks me up. Looks like a 90210 advertisement.
Dennis’ original sculpt was pretty darn nice. It was changed by another artist after Trancas required some changes to the sculpt when they gave their final “OK”. In my opinion the changes only hurt the look of the mask.
There must be a reason DPS wouldn’t just pay Dennis to sculpt a DB2 style Myers mask, or even the DB2 itself, and I don’t know what that reason is. Maybe if it looks too much like Kirk or the 75 Kirk mask they’d get in trouble? There has to be a reason or else Dennis would sculpt a dead-on mask.
i like the look of it.with a nice repaint and rehair it will be a cool mask.
It’s really not that bad at all, Dennis’ previous one made for DP didn’t look as bad either, but they were all rushed into production and nothing ever will look good rushed even if it was a real deal '75.
Looks hella better than previous ones 
Only problem I have with it is the jaw isn’t as pronounced or “as fat” as the Kirk. Just stuff the jawline when ya wear it 
And hey, it’s the first DP Myers mask without painted eyebrows, so there’s a plus 
This mask is not nearly as good as DPS said its going to be. i heard this mask was suppose to stand up to Indie masks, but it MAJORLY Failed at that. So like others im dissapointed in it. It looks like any of there other Myers. Nothing special and i will not ge getting it.
And the reason why DPS cant release a dead on mask is bc of the shat features and “star trek” will want a cut of the profits, so untill DPS makes a deal with them, we will never see a dead on “75” myers from DPS. BUT, since H5 onward are original sculpts and can not see why they cant release those dead on masks. The RZ masks turned out not sooo good, i just cant see why they cant make them accurate. Bottom line is DPS does not care and only looks to the mass audience.
First off, no disrespect to Dennis, I’m sure his sculpt was great, and knowing of his previous work, I have no doubt it was. But this mask, like every other Don Post Myers mask, is shitty. I understand the reasoning, to the majority of the people who will buy this mask, it is exactly what it needs to be. A reasonable semblance of the look of Michael Myers mask. They are not as picky and as exacting as we are. They just want a mask to wear on one night of the year, and Don post is going to give it to them. The very idea that Don Post and Paper Magic group put any effort at all into getting someone as good as Dennis to provide a sculpt is astonishing. But to think that past that they are going to do anything to make sure that the finished product is anything other than a servicable halloween mask is just ignorance on our part. Every year they say the same thing, and every year we get our hopes up that they are going to pull off an affordable “masterpiece”. Forget it guys. Don’t even give them another thought. We know where and who to get our masks from, and that’s all that matters. Believe me, I have worn a white mask made by a truly amazing artist before, and only when I was really looked at did anyone even notice I was wearing something better than the mass produced crap. Honestly most people are so afraid of Michael they really don’t hang around too long to examine the mask. They see the coveralls, white mask and butcher knife and they become scarce quick…just as it should be. So let Don post sell all the masks he wants. We don’t have to buy him and support his junk. Support real artists and their work. Maybe one day the mass produced guys will get it right. At least getting quality sculptors is a step in the right direction.
Ok AMonsterAmI, I think you have your quotes mixed up. Don Post Studios NEVER said anything about “the most accurate Michael Myers 1978 mask ever!” The quotes actually came from Trancas about the mask in their news section of halloweenmovies.com by a person who posted info on it there; here is the exact quotes from halloweenmovies.com:
“Trancas International Films sent us these amazing new sculpt images of the all new Officially Licensed Deluxe Michael Myers mask to share with Halloween fans. All we can say is WOW!!! We were told last year from Trancas that they were working on bringing the fans the most accurate mask on the market and it looks like they are delivering on that promise. We do not know when the mask will be available in stores yet or what the price is going to be, but so far this is “shaping” up to be the best looking Michael Myers mask ever made commercially from Don Post Studios and Paper Magic Group.”
And another quote directly from Trancas:
“Keep in mind that It’s still in the early stages of development, but this mask is definitely on track to be the best one yet! We’ve seen all the previous versions and prototypes of this mask and nothing comes close to this one.”
EVERY “Myers” mask released has to be approved by the license holder, that’s Trancas not Don Post Studios. Maybe Dennis can elaborate what changes were done to the sculpt but what it seems like is Trancas is the stumbling block and not DPS. If the mask or sculpt looks anything like William Shatner maybe a license becomes in effect?
The 98/99 mass produced DPS “Shatner” mask looked terrible and are not “legendary”; they were over-sized, washed out and the paint and hair work was atrocious. The DPS “99” masks that Darren Perks, the original sculptor, put out and what’s now more commonly known in this circle are awesome, a little undersized but awesome.
To me this mask is one hell of alot better than most of the crap that gets put out at DP. I agree with Tommy, repaint and hair, and lets see what will happen. Until then, lets be thankful that DP isnt waisting latex like they have been for awhile now.

Well, all I can say is I’m not exactly happy with this mask, but I’m not really PO’d about it either. I have extremely low expectations from DPS as of late after seeing the eye sores they’ve thrown out in the past decade. I completely agree with member Sam on this subject. Just don’t waste your breath on it, we all know where to get the masks that make us happy, it’s not like we have to rely in DPS to make “The ultra Myers mask”. As far as I’m concerned, there are too many other options, we have several dedicated Indy Mask makers who are dead set on making the most screen accurate Myers masks possible, and they realize there’s always room for improvement. I say whatever happens to DPS, happens. If one day they actually go on to make a good mask that we’ll all enjoy, than that’s just sterling, but if they continue to go down this path of making undesirable masks, and eventually lose the rights to Myers, then that sits very well with me also. I would buy one and redo it and make a Ben Tramer mask or a replica of the Halloween life and crimes of Michael Myers mask!
Also at maskfest I was talking to Sam McCain and he had spoken with Don post Jr The mask is gonna be casted in white latex rather then being paintedand I do belive he said the hair was gonna be black!
This mask looks a lot better in these shots. For a mass production mask it’s not bad. Honestly, I like the sculpt, but I don’t know why Trancas wouldn’t just go all out and try to make “The Mask” of all masks.
Regardless, I’ll pick one up and turn it over to someone here to make it awesome.
its an ok mask, so far i dont mind this and the 06 even if it DID sorta resemble bill murray. However they still have not getten much accuracy out of these and wtf is with the unnecessary dimples on the chin and cheek?
I remember seeing the masks DB sculpted and thinking those sculpts were fantastic but of course the final product was poop.
Its all about quick money to them they dont care about how awesome someones sculpt is or how the fans feel.
