New Don Post 2011 Myers Mask?

The new Don Post Myers?

I got this image from HalloweenAsylum and, In my opinion, this mask is very weird but I think with a good repaint would be nice.

Repainted with Photoshop

Your opinions?

getting better… looks a lil big

Hmmm, still very disappointing, but the re-paint is heeps better.

Craptastic as usual.

Looks Halloween 6-ish to me

You did ask for opinions but you never stated good or bad so here’s mine,i cannot even begin to relate this mask to Michael Myers its just way off anything ive ever seen i mean look at that hair which is more suited to Cary Grant than Michael Myers and the look is very odd and i don’t even know how best to describe it and this is one of the main reasons i don’t have anything to do with licenced masks because to be fair they are still a joke as far as im concerned in relation to accuracy, why can’t DonPost just go back to the Drawing board do some research on what we fans and collectors want from a mask because if they did they’d be knocking out New 75k’s for fun if they really had any real interest in what we want but they don’t so the way i see it is there’ll always be a war hate relationship toward them for that reason alone, sorry for the harshness of my comment its nothing personal to you my friend trust me.

It’s the Edward James Olmos edition

You’re right.
In my opinion DP should not do especially Michael Myers masks, should make Kirk masks, hence, if the fans want a DP Myers, simply convert the Kirk.
I dont remember seeing a bad Kirk from DP, but the DP Myers look very strange …
In my opinion, this mask is just weird.

Sorry for my bad English.

With all the talented people in the word…all the computer technology…all the scanning programs out there…A huge company like DON Post should be able to make a mask that is DEAD NUTS…

Every year they put out this garbage, sorry I had to say it.

Look at all there action figures they have out now a day’s they scan the faces, AND THEIR DEAD NUTS.

I like the pose of the model wearing the mask. Strike a pose there’s nothing to it - VOGUE!

A little better then before but still pathetic.

lol…same thing I thought. Why do they always advertise these masks making them look like cheesy high school year book pictures?

Even if it does look like that the stock photo always makes the mask look WAY better than it really looks

Hey guys,

Let’s remember that Dennis, the guy who sculpted it for DPS, is a member here. DPS decided to go with this style and it is a valid licensed Myers mask. I have seen independent studios artist’s do a different take on Myers and they are loved by you all and they supposedly, they can do no wrong; I honestly think this is an attempt at something like that bringing the general feel of Halloween to the people. I understand peoples anger, frustration and disappointment with DPS in not re-releasing the be-loved “75 Capt. Kirk” but we have to look at the present time.

So i say, the mask looks weird but, with a good repaint looks nice

If this was indeed an attempt to do a different take on Myers, then I have to ask why? Seriously, what is their reasoning behind not wanting to make a Myers mask that looks just like a converted 75 Kirk? Would it kill them to give it a try and see how they sell? I just don’t understand it. This is why I was so excited to hear the rumor that Don Post may lose the rights to the Myers mask. That would have been fantastic.

Strong opinion here. But it seems all you have to do is sculpt a face, ANY face, and paint it white and you have a Myers.
Myers had one look with certain features and that is not so when it comes to DPS Myers masks. They may as well just life cast a co-worker and be done with it.
Myers has a distinctive face and you cant just update that face and paint it White.

I’m not saying they need to go with a '75 Kirk. But at least try and keep the same face

I understand that Dennis sculpted it. I also understand that Dennis sculpted the DB2. SO whats the problem now? They just dont care, thats what the problem is.

Licensing has a lot to do with the it. Just how many license’s (Myers License, William Shatner Licence for sure…Star Trek License maybe?) and how much do they cost? I have no clue but what you have to look at is feasibility; can you make a product and sell enough of them to make a profit after licensing. Just don’t look at the “Myers” fan base; you have to have a broader base.

If license “X” is this much money and you can get 5 other licenses, and sell more with the 5 license’s, for the same price; which one you would choose? It’s simple, the general public doesn’t want to buy a “Kirk”, convert it and wear it only once to just throw it in a box. The general public wants something that looks like a general description of “Myers” that they can just throw on at any time…DPS “Myers” fits that bill.

If I had my wish I’d get Don to work with Sam and get something special to the fans.

No disrespect to Dennis at all, but Kirk you’re missing a little bit of the point. For the last year DP Studios has been saying they’re going to be releasing “the most accurate Michael Myers 1978 mask ever” and that their artists spent a year researching the 75 and making it as accurate as possible. That isn’t our words, those were their words. If they wanted to do a “new take” on the Myers mask and were worried about licensing issues they should have just released it like any other mask and not went the extra mile of promising something they couldn’t deliver. Not that any of us expected them to anyway, but this mask is a little worse than most of us thought it would be.

I like DP Studios. Their Kirks (their '99 is legendary), their H3 trios, those are all classic well respected and sought after masks. This is just my opinion though, I’m trying to be impartial…
