Wow. Too bad these didn’t come out a little earlier. Definitely would’ve been great reference photos for Nik and Jimmy. I really love this sculpt, maybe someone can give it another try, and that’s not to say the ones we have so far aren’t great.
I definitely could see him resculpting it, but I do really like his current sculpt, although these pictures will allow him to make it as accurate as possible now.
I heard the reasoning is something along the lines of someone who had to do with the creation of it doesn’t want it mass produced. Not sure who, it couldn’t be the sculptor because as we saw in those screenshotted DM’s he seems to be cool with having the sculpt mass produced.
Ahh. So an ownership dispute. Hopefully we get a mass-produced Flashback of some kind. It’s a unique Myers mask that most people will probably want. It’d lend itself well to TOTS’s style of mass-production, and it’s simple enough to where it wouldn’t need extensive rehaul except maybe the hair.
I’m sure if we don’t get a mass produced mask other sculptors will make new masks based off of these pictures. So even if you don’t like Nik or Jimmy’s take on it I’m sure there will be more options.
The people that made the mask have no rights or ownership of it. That’s not how this works… they are simply artists hired by the producers of a film company, Miramax or Blumhouse in this case, to make the mask. The sculpt is property of the production company. The mold is property of the production company. The copies and rights to produce are property of the production company. And so forth…
Those who created the mask may be able to ask nicely, but ultimately they would have no final say as to whether or not the mask would be produced. It’s much more likely that it’s an issue with Miramax, Trancas, and Blumhouse being involved and not agreeing on details… or maybe ToTs just didn’t want it. They already sell two H1 style masks…
I highly doubt tots are the reason for the mask not being produced, Chris zephro has mentioned in the past about how they are not allowed to sell blanks because the studios won’t allow it, they seem to be very picky with what they will allow tots to produce.
Could’ve sworn I heard that TOTS was trying to get the rights to make it, so I doubt it’s TOTS not wanting to. There’s a ton of money to be made with this mask.
