Not sure how I feel about this. If Michael gets apprehended right after he falls off the balcony, it takes away the mystique and creepiness of the ending of H1. In any case, I just hope the mental institution scenes don’t go the route of Rob Zombies Halloween. I hope they maintain the mysterious nature Michael had in H1, where you know nothing about him, why he killed Judith, or why he was after Laurie or anyone for that matter. That’s what made him creepy, the less you know about Michael, the better, in my opinion.
Also made me think, if that is the case, will they refilm the ending of H1 where Loomis shoots Michael, or will they show the original scene, like H2? If they refilm it, who could play Loomis?
They could have a CG Dr. Loomis just like Tarkin and Leia in Rogue 1.

I’m thinking there will be lots of H1 original footage in this new one, in the form of flashbacks Laurie continues to deal with.
I’m hoping for no re-shooting of classic scenes though.
agree 100%
I don’t think I’d like Mike sitting in Smith’s Grove for the last 40 years, but also I don’t think they’re going to do that. For all we know, Laurie Strode works there or is involved there in some capacity, or perhaps her daughter is. There could be flashbacks to Michael’s days there in the 60s and 70s. Any number of things could bring us back, no way to tell what it could mean at this point.
i didnt think about that, thats a good point. laurie or her daughter could be working at the asylum, maybe that will be the reason for those scenes. But if that is the case then where has Michael been for 40 years? Because its not like this new movie will take place a year or two after the original, its been 40 freakin years. what could be the reason for michael and laurie to confront each other again? what could michael have been doing for 40 years? if we knew michael was going to be supernatural for sure in this movie then the explanation for him and laurie coming into contact with each other could be endless. but the way danny mcbride has been talking its going to be a much more grounded/logical explantion.
My feeling is that Michael disappeared and hasn’t been seen since that night. Where he was is part of the mystique of his return and shouldn’t be explained, just something the characters wonder about along with the audience. More important than where he’s been is that he’s back now and people will die.

His stalking is unmatched. Loved his bit in The Fog when he got off the coroner’s table n took a run at Jaime Lee. THAT even sent the hairs on my neck straight up!
that is exactly how it should be. that would be absolutely perfect
YES!
Man I hope this is how it is handled.
No rhyme or reason just death.
This is the best way to handle it. It’s grounded like the writer’s are striving for but also keeps a hint of the supernatural. These two things work best in balance and we don’t need a deeper explanation than that.
I wouldn’t mind if they’d go with the abandoned Halloween 4 ideas in the least. Halloween’s been banned in Haddonfield after The Night He Came Home, a new generation (Laurie’s granddaughter and her pals) have a Halloween party or in some other way celebrate Halloween, the Shape returns. No indication of where Michael’s been nor how he’s back other than now that Halloween has again returned to Haddonfield, he has as well.
I also hope they don’t go with “Halloween Returns” or “Halloween Lives.” I like the idea of just calling it “Halloween 2018.” This would cement the story within the real-world context of being our time. H1 made prominent use of dates and the passage of time, so Halloween 2018 would be fitting and would spare us “Halloween 40 Years Later.”
Seeing the new set pics, Halloween doesn’t look banned
here’s the first official picture of Michael! Can you spot him?
