I want to use the same soft type hair they used for the original mask. What hair is closest? Also what are you supposed to use to adhere the hair? Liquid latex?
Latex could work, but most use rubber cement, e600. The closest stuff that anyone will tell you is crepe, mohair, or a mix. There are closer things available to the hero hair but no ones gonna give em up

I believe the closest is dyed yak belly hair, which was what was used on the originals. You can still get it if you’re willing to buy a vintage Chewbacca mask and rip the hair off of it.
Haha… I love Star Wars but nah… I’ll just go with the crepe lol. Anyone know how many layers I should be using? I don’t know how many layers the original Kirk had

The originals had 6 layers. 5 from back to front, with the 6th being the actual hairline layer.

I’m going off both Josh’s post as well as what JC purportedly uses for his “vintage Kirk hair”.
Interesting, didn’t know that’s what he supposedly used. Is this also something he’s said? To clarify I’m not doubting you I’m just curious

I think he said something about it a few years back on Facebook.
I got two of them long ago and rehaired 7 of my masks. It is the exact same hair used on all Don Post masks of that era. And I use liquid latex for hairing. You can get finner detail.
