Ok... so who here actually likes the RZ films?

I just can’t take the characters. That is my biggest gripe that is honestly too big to overcome. Just about everyone ( and I mean EVERYONE ) in his films are completely unlikable. The dialogue is laughably unrealistic, I really don’t care who dies, and Tyler Mane Myers is way too “un-Michael myers” for my taste.
No one can replace Donald Pleasance as loomis so the odds were already stacked against Malcolm but in the second film he was such an arrogant POS. I can see how some may enjoy these films but I’m sorry I simply cannot.

Admittedly, lack of likeable characters was the most consistent problem IMO.

I hear you loud and clear! That’s the way i roll. I think RZ Halloween’s are nothing more than spoofs.

I take them for what they are…can say the same thing about H20 and H8…don’t hate them just don’t like them as much as the others!

I enjoy RZH2 as a separate beast.
I enjoyed the first RZ film at the time but it didn’t age well for me. I may change my mind in the next few years again.lol

Same here. It is what it is “to me.” Total white trash America. Started out like the Dahmer story. Mommy/Daddy issues, let’s hurt animals etc. And as far as Not likeing RZ Halloween cuz it’s the “accepted thing to say” like someone mentioned, huh??? Honestly…

Couldn’t agree more with all you guys

Love them

Saw the first one once, and it will be the last time likely. I didn’t even get through the second one. I didn’t care for RZ’s interpretation of the character.

Halloween as a franchise is not about psychiatry. It’s not about explaining the evil that is Michael Myers. RZ’s Halloween movies divert from that and attempt to explain evil. It’s one of the things I don’t like about it. Also, I wouldn’t go so far as to call most of the Halloween movies “well made”. Most of them are honestly crap with things here or there that I enjoy about them. RZH1 is decently made. Not exactly what I’d call a well made movie, but it’s definitely got a heart to it and attempts to be something which is more than I can say for most Halloween movies.

As for Loomis, most psychiatrists whose patients escape after a killing spree don’t’ exactly go straight for the gun and start hunting down their patient with a revolver.

My apologies to Joe Grizzly, just wasn’t sure if I would get a new post approved to be posted. I wanted to say that this forum is wacked…if you have an opinion that is not popular with long time members you will be berated. Dumb ass member that goes by the name of The Demon Bishop wanted to complaint that he had me on block, but I was still able to reply to him wanted to say I had two accounts…So he post a pic on here of his account showing me on block…Okay first of all, I was able to reply back to you cause I was able to see your replies, even though you claim you had me on block. If you looked back at the post I was able to reply back to you, using the same screen name you claim you had blocked. I was able to put your comments in quotations under the same screen name to claimed you had blocked. My point is if anyone wants to cry wolf and say someone has two accounts on here, anyone could easy put someone on block and take a pic of their account and post on here and cry yeah, see they have two accounts and get someone ban. Who knows if you just now put them on ban or not…Kaizu as a moderator is nothing but a dumb ass, that goes ahead and bans me and deletes all post on here that would be in my favor. Contact support is useless on this site, cause they will never get back to you. I had received pm’s from others that feel the same way I do. I guess my point is to not go against what the majority feels on this site cause it won’t end up good for you.

You’re not going to last long, incoming mods

Tim12? I’m guessing that’s your age

I wonder why this guy’s ip shows previous banned members?lol.
You were asked to cool it in pms numerous times, but I guess you won’t be seeing this because I’ll terminate your IP address

By your Friendly neighborhood evil nazi mod

And its sad to know that people think that every ban is done by me :unamused:

Good day folks

You didn’t do anything wrong bro. Heck… Your one of the cool dudes who contributes to this board in a positive, fun way. Don’t let the losers get ya down :drinkers:

I’m glad that their IP is blocked now, that way they don’t get to come back, thank you, Kaizu

I really like the movies. I liked the 1st one more than the 2nd, mainly because the 2nd took the focus away from Michael too much and they had one of the worst endings in the series. I think the remakes are also immensely satisfying for remakes, in a time when horror remakes were (and still are) considered cash cows rather than actual legit stories that have there own vision behind them, it was refreshing and dare I say, excellent to see a director take the story and say “Fuck this ordinary reboot shit, I’m gonna do this my way” and it’s clear Rob Zombie has a vision that deserves to be recognised as a style.

I also think Tyler Mane did the best job with the Michael he was given and has since gone on to become my favourite Michael Myers look, even more than the classic, just because this one had more of an intimidating presence from a look standpoint as well as a creepy standpoint. He actually feels unstoppable, but the kicker is, he’s actually more human than he’s ever been portrayed and for the film, it’s in, it works. And the people that do like the film agree.

I also have to give it up for Malcolm McDowell’s performance as Loomis, Brad Dourif as Sheriff Brackett, Danielle Harris as Annie Brackett, Scout Taylor-Compton as Laurie, Darek Feng as Young Micheal Myers.

The kid for such a young role really had a sense of innocence and yet a look that could scare you silly if given enough rage.

And that’s the thing I love about this Michael and can see him as a Michael Myers not evil, not misunderstood. Raged… Unbridled, uncontrollable Rage.

That one line Donald’s Loomis said about Michael coming back to his house. “This house is sacred to him, he has all his memories here. His rage!” I always use this quote as the entire plot of Halloween 1 and 2. Rage is this Michael Myers.

Also, a very underrated note is Halloween 1 and 2’s soundtrack. I remember loving it so much I bought the cd in shops and used it for my drama performance at school and I got an A for my mini story I did, with my teacher saying that my use of songs (All from the soundtrack) was brilliant at enhancing the atmosphere.

I also think that some audiences perception got in the way of what they expected from a remake. I know. I did too, I thought it was going to be a subtle dark scare like all the previous films were and I was a little weirded out at first, but when the movie set in I actually liked it, but why? Why would I like a Remake that make Michael talk, Loomis a greedy asshole and Laurie an annoying tease, then I realised.

This Michael Myers

Isn’t this Micheal Myers

This Dr. Loomis

Isn’t this Dr. Loomis

and this Laurie Strode

Isn’t this Laurie Strode

It does what all Remakes claim they were going to do but don’t. They renew the characters. That is some balls that Mr Robb Zombie has on him, taking characters that reshaped an entire Genre of films and make them into different more unlikeable characters for the sake of vision.

Now I get why some hate these two, from an outside standpoint, the movies are not really good movies that do much in the grand scheme of things and if I was somebody that knew nothing about Halloween I would not really care either way about the franchise it has, simply by watching this movie, because once these two are over, that’s it, for that Michael Myers. And the films (Especially 2) has flaws in character decisions and progression (Not as bad as Last Jedi lol), and for a film about a Masked killer that murders a bunch of people on a certain night of the year, it seems a little dense. I even feel as though the film doesn’t even need to be set on Halloween. I mean, it didn’t feel like that played any importance what’s so ever aside from the name alone.

Overall I really like them both and I keep coming back to them with some, dare I say, love in my heart for what they did for Michael and the gang. And I was one of those people that really wanted Rob to do a trilogy, but he didn’t want to or wasn’t allowed to, and I’m upset we never got one, due to the ending not being typically good. I do still wish Rob Zombie the best in his future career and hopefully, future Halloween movies will show him some respect and give Easter eggs to moments from his film.

P.S I love the use of Mr Sandman in this film.

I dig them for what they are.

I hear ya man and I agree. But remember it’s the ‘‘accepted thing to say’’

True! That’s what it did with me…

Welcome too the club bro! :myers:
