Olive wood Big Macs

Hey guys I’ve been doing some research and searching the forums. I am on the mobile app so I may not have seen all the search results.

I just scored a set of Big Macs that were described as “brown/green”.

A. Are these considered “olive wood” or did Big Mac have variations of “green”?

B. Are there certain materials that the coveralls are made of that are more desirable as far as being screen accurate? In other words, I have noticed that there are variations such as “herringbone/twill”, and “polyester/cotton blend”.

Thanks for the help and apologies if this has already been discussed.

CONGRATS!
Those are the real deal and super hard to come by these days!!!
I know that this is an area of discussion and that this thread will probably soon get locked due to some language BUT:
in my opinion the original H1 Coveralls worn by Nick Castle were Big Mac Olivewood and nothing else, I have a pair myself as well as navy and spruce and only the olive-wood give you this color-ambiguity, the shades rather, especially when weathered with machine oil/mud whatever they used and then captured on film. Spruce will still show up as ‘green-ish’ (as can be seen in H2) but Olivewood comes up as just some dark something when filmed. I know of at least one member here that says he has filmed the spruce and that only they were giving him the desired results but I am set in my opinion that olive wood on film looks more authentic than any other color, authentic to H1 mind you! The herringbone ones were used for H4 and polyester/cotton blend is what 99.9999 of all coveralls of all companies will be made of as this is your industry standard fabric mix. The amount of how much is blended with how much, the thickness of the yarn etc will still vary greatly however.
Again: congratulations to your find!!!
cheers :drinkers:

_Olive wood ALL DAY LONG for me.

The problem is that in certain lighting they can give too much of a brown color and that is what throws people off. If you take them in the same sort of lighting used in the night shots of Halloween, they will appear a bluish color…just like Halloween. Take them out in the daylight and they will have a dulled down green, heavy grey color…just like Halloween! And, to be fair, they will vary a little bit in color. I bought three or four vintage pairs of Olivewood Big Macs before I got the exact look I wanted.

None of us will likely ever know for CERTAIN that the Lamson was Michael’s knife or if Olivewood Big Mac coveralls were the ones used in the movie but I can say after trying many things that these are where my money is.

As far as what type of Olive wood Big Macs? I would go with the NON herringbone type and (if possible) a pair that does NOT have the seam in the center of the back as the coveralls in Halloween did not have this either.

_

Amen to that!

Great information guys, thank you!

My Big Macs are scheduled to be delivered today and I have confirmed they do not have a seam up the back and they are in fact the poly/cotton blend.

I think I really lucked out finding it in my perfect size.

I believe my coveralls are a vintage olivewood, this is how they look out in natural daylight, very similar with the daylight to H1 from how I see it

That’s awesome. I’m really learning a lot from you guys!

Turns out my Macs will be delivered tomorrow. I must have been cross eyed when I was looking at the calendar.

Anyone know when they stopped making Big Macs?

In regards to the knife: so it’s not really known if it was a Lamson then? It’s funny that you mention that because I have noticed that vintage “Dexter” knives look almost identical to the Lamson.

DEXTER…LAMSON…DENTER LOL MICHAEL!!! ALL HAVE THE SAME LOOK! WE WILL NEVER KNOW. THAT’S WHY WERE HERE TO DISCUSS THESE NO PROBLEM MAN! THE BIG MACS WERE DISCONTINUED IN 06-08 I THINK THOSE WERE NEW VERSIONS IDENTICAL TO VINTAGE BUT NOT OBVIOUSLY I WISHED I KNEW THEN BUT VINTAGE HAVE THAT AWESOME SMELL LOL!
