Forrest Ackermans Kirk is owned by a George L. It’s public knowledge. The late Sam McCain ( RIP) used it for reference in person for his Shape 08 sculpt along with the HSS 75 Shatner Mask.
Is there anyone old enough here that remembers seeing them on store shelves back in '75? I mean, how hard would’ve it been to track one down? Were they selling them at Woolworths back then? Lol Im sure people weren’t thinking, “damn this is gonna be worth crazy money in like 42 years” And “they’re gonna make a cool ass movie in 3” I mean to have one since new and keeping it in perfect condition is quite an accomplishment.
How accessible would’ve these been back then? Was mask collecting as big back then as it is today? Any “oh shit” moments where you saw them in a store and could’ve got like 5 of them? Or am I way off wrong on my thinking that there were many of them made? Sorry for all my noob questions lol Its just this thread got me interested in the history of the Kirk mask for the first time ever really lol Good thread, good discussion.
Thanks! I agree completely with the converted ones. However, do keep in mind that most of the converted ones had already been in the rotting stages for years. When Josh partially converted his old Kirk it was stunning. If it had the right paint and hair it would’ve been hero all the way.
It used to be referred to as “Josh’s Old
Kirk” but the new owner previously put it up for sale with the price tag of $1,000,000 because it was from the “screen used hero mold” (doesn’t exist :eyerolls:). After that I only saw it referred to as the “Million Dollar Kirk” in articles and interviews and such.
Thanks! I know! Really excited to see it as well! I saw a post today while doing research from Terry (I think?) talking about how he painted it with acrylic after stealing it and it fell apart.
