Hello,
I stumbled upon this Don Post mask last week, and I think it may be an original piece. The guy says he bought it in 81, and it was his first mask. It smells just like vinyl, it feels like vinyl, and the paint job appears to be all original. I don’t know much about these masks, so, I was just looking for some information on it. I honestly believe it is all original. Great shape, nice thickness. All around great mask. the back of it says Don Post Studios Inc C 1967-1976. Here’s the pics…
Looks like it’s a 70’s copy…
I could be wrong but I think I am right
I use to own one and this one looks very clean.
Nice mask! Yes, it’s a Vermillion Skull by DPS.
yes, it is very clean, and the shape is amazing. why would it say 1967 1976? what does that mean?
it looks shiny in the pics. in real view, it looks kind of dull. just like an old mask. whoever had it before me, kept it on a styrofoam head since 1981. is this a rare piece? i really don’t know much about these older skull masks. when i saw it, i thought it was a joke. it had these funny eyes, that made it look weird. i looked further, and knew that it was a solid mask. other than that, i know nothing about these dp skull masks.
Well I haven’t seen many floating around at all and I’m always looking. Pretty rare in my estimation. Beautiful mask bro, definitely should be proud to own a classic like this from DP.
Seriously cool score and great shots of a history piece. Congrats
What a great mask you have there. Check out Crimson Ghost’s post on the HMA regarding these masks. Its very informative. Congrats!
Thanks guys! Much appreciated!
Wow, what a beauty! That beast looks MINT! I’d say you scored big time man, congratulations.
Thanks buddy! It’s in great condition.
That is a 1976 Blood Skull from DPS. The Vermilions have eye sockets left in. All of the older skulls Pre-H3 are rare. The Blood Skull and the Vermillion Skull is rarer than the white ones.
You made a great score there!!!
Nice score, Mike. That mask looks mint!
Thanks for the info, and nice words guys!
Good going, Mike! That bad boy looks minty fresh too! I would love to one of these red ones for some costume shots this season.
Oh wow, Mike!! That is one fine score. Congrats my brother.
Thanks James and Hugo! I love looking at it. It’s such a cool piece of art.
