Paint and Poly Remover instead of Lacquer Thinner

Hello everyone. I have some stuff called Watco Paint and Poly Remover. According to the can it removes “paint, polyurethane, stain, lacquer, shellac, varnish, milk paint and more.” Will this suffice as a straight lacquer thinner substitute? Also, CosplayChris used brown and black shoe polish and didn’t appear to use lacquer thinner at all? Is that a route any of you have gone down? It turned out quite nice. Anyways, thank you in advance!

I have many years of experience working as a skilled tradesman. My advice, when in doubt, get the stuff you know works for sure. That goes for just about anything: building a house, cooking, mask making, you name it. Get the stuff you know will do the job. The minute you substitute a tried and true method you end up with problems. Cracks in your finish, peeling paint, or an apple pie that tastes like glass cleaner.

Good luck!

I ended up grabbing some Citristrip (someone recommended it on here) and it made all the difference!
