Painting question

When painting a mask with paint that’s mixed with liquid latex does everything else paint you add have to me mixed in with latex or does it only have to be the base coat and if the paint still cracks are there any other ways to prevent that from happening

Every paint u use should be mixed with latex man it prevents any cracking from happening and if the paint is already cracking I am not sure how to fix that maybe someone else can chime in

Rubber cement paint is the best in terms of long term toughness and it holds up to wear and tear. No latex needed. Don Post used rubber cement paint for decades.

It needs to be some sort of rubber based paint. It becomes part of the mask that way

Any specific ratios from paint to rubber cement and thinner?

If you are doing very very light washes with quality acrylic paint you can avoid liquid latex, but I’m talking like a 70% water/ 30% acrylic paint ratio. This would be used to just well apply washes only really and like I said the acrylic paint would need to be of good quality also. Anything else you’ll need mostly a half mix of liquid latex.

Put a tablespoon of rubber cement into a cup and add your oil paint. Only a pinch since oil paint is so concentrated. Then add solvent until the mix is watery thin. You can add more paint to the mix if you want a less translucent colour. The solvent dissolves the oil in the paint so you’re left with pigment, solvent and rubber cement so the paint flashes dry almost immediately if you keep your layers thin. Obviously the white for a Myers mask would have to be on the more concentrated end of the scale. And you’ll never have airbrush clogging issues again. Just wear a respirator since the paint isn’t good to breathe in. That’s the only downside to it really, having to wear a respirator.
