Painting the Cracks on the H40 mask

I used a sewing needle too!  At first anyways. That was when I just did a white base coat and it just wasn’t working out. The cracks looked way too forced so I tried the more common method. I removed the paint, did a black base coat and dry brushed the white on. The cracks on mine aren’t so prominent because I didn’t strip the TOTS paint off and dry brushed too much white in that area. I’m confident my next repaint will blow this one out of the water though.

I didn’t strip the paint off mine either. OMG I hate stripping paint of masks. Takes forever!! I also think the cracks on mine are a little forced. :? I swear painting a 78 or H2 isn’t anything like these 2018’s. So much work has to be put into them, them dang cracks.

Yeah I hear the TOTS paint is really hard to remove. And I felt the same way about mine before I started over. I highly recommend trying again using the dry brushing method. I feel that it gives the best results.

I’m on my 3rd repaint on the same mask. I even redid the hair at one point and ripped it back off, luckily I glued it well enough it’s a wig now so I can reuse the same hair, but I had all the cracks the way I wanted with a think paint brush and waterdown black paint, until I got to the right cheek I uses little too much force so some the lines were too thick. It sat for a week and it kept bothering me , so another layer of white latex went all the way in tonight and letting it sit. Doing the wash tomorrow then the lines this weekend. I’m also going to add skin tone to mine alot around the neck and ears as if the originals mask white spray paint came off. Fingers crossed as I already bought 3 masks I don’t want to buy another till later
