thanks guys, gonna try again after i have sculpted another!!! lol!
Did you mix PVA with your water ?, dont forget it took 3 atempts for me to cast my sculpt until i found the right way. If your POP was crumbling then i think you need to let it dry for longer, i left mine for 48 hrs before removing it. Did you put enough vasaline on the seam ? and made sure that the wall was as smooth as possible…Keep trying you would be crazy if you give up now, its all just a BIG learning curve.
ok, thanks alot dude! so here is what i will do, resculpt, buy pva and burlap, di it again in layers, put more vasaline on the seam and leave it longer, thanks for all the help! i won’t give up without a fight!!! lol
just take your time bro
sculpt, sculpt, sculpt
dont worry about molding yet
get the sculpting down first
your just wasting supplys and money
not trying to sound like an ass just trying to help ya out
I am in no way a pro mask maker
just learning by my mistakes
when I first started out in 05 I rushed everything
now I work on my sculpts for months
Thos are wise words
thanks spaz, i will
yeah, spend as much time as possible on the sculpt. Remember that you can NEVER have enough detail. You gotta keep on sculpting until you get sick of looking at it, and then carry on sculpting it!
Don’t give up you learned alot from this mistake, $100 is a small price to pay really, I have messed up a few sculpts with plaster o paris, and have to say burlap and ultra cal cant go wrong. It isn’t easy but if it was everyone and their grandmother would be doing it, then it wouldn’t be as much fun creating something your self, and sitting back and thinking “I did that” give it one more shot, never argue for your limitations. you’ll get it all in good time, there is a lot of patience needed for this kind of satisfaction.
thanks guys! i am gonna do it!!! i am ready!
