Back seam shows they’re the incorrect year.
Ok, so what are they then ? Im just confused, because i know that while you may be right, I also know that they can’t be roebucks, I’ve done my research extensively for years
Either a perma prest labeled suit or an older roebuck. Definitely a sears suit and the color looks good. They made suits in the h1/2 basic design for like 30 some years. They changed the design ever so slightly for each season.
Perma prest labeled suit ? I thought the term perma prest was just a key feature of the particular line of clothing or coveralls and not the main name of them……….or I’m just misinterpreting what you mean.
Never mind me bud, I know what you mean now, I guess I just wasn’t aware that sears made that particular style and color with the perma prest label. I appreciate you taking the time to get back with me for sure man!
The quality control from sears was almost nonexistent. Ive had so many oddly labeled suits over the years. Perma prest is a treatment of the fabric and they also just called sears suits by that name for a few years
Yeah man, I did see that. I swear, I thought I had most of these coveralls figured out, but I guess I still have alot more to learn! You definitely know your coveralls for sure dude, and your definitely right about what you said about those coveralls I found. I’m looking at them on ebay, and I’m like holy crap, I saw the one line of stitching and the thicker pocket flap, and I for sure thought I found them! Oh well, I didn’t pay alot for them, and they are way to small for me anyways. I do have a question for you bud when you get a chance……….how close is the color of the spruce green roebucks to the spruce green work n leisures ? From all the pictures ive compared, and everything I’ve researched, it seems like the color is very, very close, if not identical. I’ve read that when the work n leusure line switched names, they kept all the colors of their coveralls pretty much the same. I hope at least that parts true! Thanks for the communication man, I appreciate you!
So you’re opening a can of worms on the h2 suit. The hero pair that is still owned with the hero mask is a black label sears work and leisure.
To my knowledge that suit was essentially only in stores in 1979/1980. They replaced it with the commonly found blue and white work and leisure tag in the following year’s.
They ALSO LIGHTENED THE COLOR.
The black label work and leisure is a darker green shade and is in the catalog as “dark green” replaced in the subsequent years with “spruce green”
Good lord man, I guess I did open up a can of worms. Sorry dude, definitely wasn’t my intention, I was just trying to get as close as possible with my h2 coverall search. So when dick warlock purchased them in ‘81, they must have been leftover stock then or something I suppose if they stopped making them like that already in ‘80. Just one question for ya bud, how close percentage wise In color would you say the spruce green roebucks are compared to the darker green ones you describe? Like are they 90% accurate or close to that or a little less ? I’m just asking because I could always try to do a light rit wash in some black if maybe that could work
Once I find a pair of course!
