So I was just reading up today about how it is unsafe to store your masks on Styrofoam heads, is this true? Supposedly it will absorb the moisture from the latex and ruin them. I really want to know because I have some masks that I cherish dearly and I am looking to purchase a custom Michael Myers mask and I want to make sure I display them properly without damaging them. Can anyone answer this question that I have, and if so, provide some alternatives to displaying your masks? Thanks
Yes it can damage your mask. You should stuff your masks with grocery bags and use a paper towel holder as a stand. Paper towel holders are $15.00 to $20.00
Idk, this is just me, but if I’m dishing out the dough for an indie mask I’ll probably grab a couple of those NightmareFX stands I’ve heard about. I have two on order and I was thinking about this very subject as well. Then again, I have an original Cinema Secrets H8 circa 2002 (16ish years) and have stuffed it with plastic bags and newspaper and in that short-term span haven’t noticed a difference. Either way, those stands looked pretty cool from what I’ve seen.
I have put 3-4 plastic bags into the masks to hold it’s “Shape”
Then i placed each mask on a bottle filled up with water close to the cap, hope i can help you.
Works pretty good!
I have a TOTS mask that has been on a foam head for years. I don’t notice any issues with it but I am not taking the risk with my CGP mask I just recently got. I have a few bags stuffed inside of it and bought a cheap paper towel stand from walmart for like 5 dollars. I would say be safe and place it on a paper towel holder if you don’t want to spend too much on a custom mask stand.
