I received this mask about two and a half months ago from Casey Carty (the Prop Shop). He did an awesome job with it but there was something missing…
When I received the mask I thought it looked great! It looked awesome worn but when I went to display it … not so good!! The “rotted away” pieces of the mask left something to be desired when it was on display instead of being worn. Also my mask came with way too much white in the hair (for my taste) and no blood!!
What I decided to do was tone down the white stuff in the hair, add some sort of “underskin” to make it look like Myers’ bloodied flesh under the rotted away parts of the mask and then add blood and scabs in the hair and the added underskin!
It took me quite awhile to find the right type of blood and scab effects to do what i wanted but I’m pleased with the final results.
Just wanted to see what you guys thought!
Stage 1 - Here’s the mask as it arrived from Casey:
Stage 2 - I placed the mask on a stand with a styrofoam head which I added a “bald cap” (those latex “caps” you put over your head to mimic baldness) to by stretching it over the styrofoam head and attaching it.
That looks great. I was thinking about doing something like that so it could be worn without any makeup fx. I was also thinking of adding latex in clumps on the area added to make it look like a wound with depth.
Thanks guys, I like it tons better now. Casey did a great job on this mask, I think it may be his finest work yet but the few tweaks I made to it really made it perfect for me.
Looks awesom man really brought it to life . Not to sound prickish but if I could make a suggestion if ya wanted a nice display (not that its not awesom already) but ya could add some hair to the bottom of the neck to make it look like a beard is coming out maybe get a pair of those eye insert’s Casey does and also put a little bit of beard looking hair coming out of the side of the face where its ripped . Awesom tho man and great idea using the bald cap
Could even start doing what Scotts been doing order in some CFX Busts . That would look awesom on one with the eye inserts and accurate coveralls attached to it . That on the CFX bust with what you added to the mask would def look awesom
yeah, when I got my Psychopath v3, it had major white stuff goin on in the hair…
I just sprayed some water on the hair and gently wiped it with a paper towel, I thought maybe its the powder in the mask sticking to whatever he uses on the hair…?
SickOClown, I’d love to have one of Scott’s busts for all my Myers masks!
scorch656, thanks man. I contacted Casey about this and he does them up that way on purpose. Several people apparently like the white har stuff. Casey does it to give it more of the extreme weathered look.
