Was just wondering why everybody has hair, paint and eye cuts etc converted? I am looking to but a Warlock and a NAG H78 and was curious… do these masks not look good as they come. If i order direct from the studios will they have a poor finish or do they still have a good degree of weathering if requested, and good hair?
One word for you: preference.
Alot of people ask the artist (NAG for example) to supply them a kirk, so that someone else can convert it. However if you ask for a h78 it will come converted by nik himself. All warlocks come converted as the mold itself is a myers mold not a kirk mold. I hope you can understand what i mean, just overall If you ask for a kirk, you can get it converted by someone else. But if you just order off the maskmaker for a h78 or warlock or whatever etc. It will come converted.

I understand what you mean. Does this mean that the mask maker doesnt do as good a job at making the mask look like a Myers as what the other person who would do the conversion would?? With regards to the hair what is wrong with the hair that the mask comes with that somebody would rather get somebody else to hair it for them, why not just ask for a specific hair when placing the order??
Well…No not exactly, some people just prefer other artists conversions better. Like for example a very accurate H1 is created (the nag/ahg) When Nik gives a kirk to all hallows ghost and he converts the kirk into a very very accurate h1. And with regards to the hair, some people prefer different types of hair whereas the artist might not have that type of hair or he might not want to hair it that way, the price is also a HUGE thing that has to be taken into consideration.

Dren’s post above pretty much has you covered…
Each artist has a certain style they use when converting a mask. Nik has his own style, Hallows has his and so on… It’s not a matter of what’s better, it’s a matter of what best suits your wants for a mask. If you are uncertain about an H78 directly from/by NAG, I’m sure some members would be more than willing to help you out with your decision and post a few masks that are all Nik. Mike (whiteshark) just posted a NAG H4 cover mask that is all Nik. It looks fantastic. But it all goes back to what Dren said… PREFERENCE!
Thanks guys, i think it makes a little more sense now. I reckon i will perhaps wait til i see a H1 mask in the classifieds to buy, that way i will see and know exactly what im getting at time of purchase.
Like I said above, it’s all a matter of opinion. Where one person could think Nik’s work is golden, another could think it is terrible. People love the H78 sculpt but that doesn’t mean they will like how it is finished.
This used to be a Kirk mask before James Carter JC_70 converted it
I have been wanting to know how long it takes Nik to email a person back. I have been wanting to get an H78 and have it converted but can not seem to get a response. I hate to call Rome or wherever it is located. I would also like to know if anyone has an opinion about the CGP Warlock vs Nightowl Psycho. Any feedback will be helpful. Thanks.
Nik’s in Greece, but He’s usually pretty good for returning e-mails. He has sent me a few H78 blanks before and it usually only takes a week or two for them to get to this side of the pond.
As far as the Warlock and Psycho, it depends on what your looking for. The Crypt Co. Warlock (Formerly CGP) is an H2 masks, and made to look as though it is being worn by Mr. Warlock. The Psycho comes in many different versions, but if it’s an H2 your looking for you want one of Justin’s Psycho 81s. The Psycho is one of the best Myers masks out there IMO, but the first thing I would do is go to the gallery section and have a look at some of the photos posted there. See if anything stands out for you.
Thanks for posting this thread, Pumpkin Bomb. Great topic. I wish I would have read it earlier…
