As someone who has yet to own an H2 1981 mask I wonder to achieve the Warlock stretch should you wear a mask that is too small for your head and just stuff it a little, or should one rather wear a mask that gives you a more normal fit and more room and therefore stuff it more than you would with a smaller sized one? I’m also aware of that Dick might have had velcro or a pin added to the Hero (and stunt masks?) but I’m still not certain about this topic.
Personally DW’s head dimensions just fit the hero 78’ perfectly to achieve that classic look. My thought is a slightly smaller mask, wide head, and stout neck like DW’s would achieve that look. He did have a safety pin attached to the mask in 81, as far as stuffing it, I don’t doe. an H2, many members here do and I’m sure they will give you the proper advice on stuffing it.
I have a CGP warlock. As far as displaying the mask to get the warlock stretch I bought a regular foam head and put a ski cap on it then once I put the mask on the foam head I started stuffing it with cut up peices of a plastic bag and cotton balls until i thought it looked good. Hope this helps!
Dick has a very square jaw that kind of goes up into an reverse Trapezoid shape.
So this basically accounts for the mask stretching. You would want it wide around the eyebrows but still wide near the jaw. Like a shovel
I wouldn’t get a mask that is too small, as it will just look pulled on to whatever size shape your face is. You want one that fits around the size of your head with some room to stuff it with some foam pieces. I have a pretty wide round face and a wide jaw, so I’m looking forward to pulling off H2 this year.
Whereas Castle is a pretty Oval or Ellipse shapped face with a sharper chin and he stretched it even more by holding his chin down.
Thank you for sharing your ideas regarding this matter guys.
I guess my question was rather simple, and when thinking about it more about the safety pins it makes more sense because that actually was the cause of the H2 look all along since the mask was actually never really tight on him in the first place.
