Question for rehaul artists who have done mouth slits before

I bought a pair of nail scissors and was experimenting with some cheap masks to get better at doing eyecuts, slits etc…

My question is, with a TOTS or a custom, if you cut a mouth slit on it which kind of shape you give to the slit?

I’m not speaking necessarily about accuracy to the movie look but also from a “preservation” perspective

Cause type A looks the best to me but wouldn’t a castle stretch (especially one with padding) risk tearing the latex further since it’s just a straight cut?

Rounded one is probably safer but really easy to mess up

Actually had this happen to me with a tots elrod mask.I made a straight slit and while trying to get a stretch with it the entire bottom half tore almost completely off.

ok so one vote AGAINST a straight slit. and a MOMENT of silence for the elrod :frowning:

…lol he took it like a champ.

“Trying to get a stretch” Bro are you an Easter Island rock? How did it give that bad???

Oh wow that poor Elrod, well if anything it convinced me that i should practice at doing round cuts :laughing:

Sorry but that’s hilarious :joy: You must of done one hell of a stretch with ungodly force :rofl:

It looks like rusty nail from Joyride got ahold of him :confused: :open_mouth:

Love it :rofl::smile:

Im sorry to see that bro :frowning: You have to cut 2 small circles at the side/corner of a mouth slit or the cut in the latex will run and continue on that line
the same goes for a neck slit, with out that circle cut at the top of the neck slit it will tear along that line further, the circle cut stops that

Cut each corner from the outside of the corners and meet in the middle of the mouth. Know what I mean? If the cuts start from the outside corners then there will be no sharp endings to the slit.

Really sorry, but I can’t stop laughing at the Myers beanie hahahahaha

Man looks hungry
