RARE Media Home Entertainment Halloween release Poster.

Was digging around in my closet the other day and found this as well as other Media release posters plus the letter that Media Home Entertainment sent out to video stores. I can’t believe I still have this. I’ve also included a pic of my accidental TV release VHS copy of Halloween by Media Home Entertainment as well. This is awesome!!!

I wish I could dig something out of my closet like that, Im to scared to even look :open_mouth:

Thanks for sharing,

JD

I have one those too. Got it from the video store after Halloween was released on VHS. Can’t seem to locate it as this moment…Damnit!
I also have these:

An original Australian Day Bill H1 poster

And this original H2 poster that I had signed by Dick Warlock

Very cool, that’s a good set to hang onto as they aren’t something you see every day.

I called Tracy to get more. Nice stuff!

This is really cool! I love the letter of providence as well! I have a 35mm transparency of this artwork with the Media Presents on it above the Halloween title…I got it from Mr. Band himself on ebay. When Media made the mistake of releasing the tv version they received a bunch of calls about the error. Media then asked people to send back their copies for the original version…wanna know what Media did with the tapes they were sent back…they erased them and recorded over them with the original version.

Wanna know what happened to Media after they dismantled in the 1990? They were bought up by a company in Detroit and this past year, the company went under and all of the original Media masters, ANY master that they released during their existence, were thrown in a dumpster! Now in a landfill in Detroit somewhere. That hurts! My childhood…pan and scan, in a landfill!

Thanks for sharing! The “prepak” document is very interesting to see, love the lingo. Your Australian print is one of the most iconic set stills that was photographed, Bogey. I dig it.

Billy, intriguing information as usual. I wonder roughly how many cassettes required attention & how exactly that was efficiently executed :stuck_out_tongue:

Media & its other forms were responsible for making so many cult classics available to consumers, Charles certainly deserves an earned spot in home horror cinema history. Along with Full Moon & his own contributions to entertainment, visually & aurally, the man has done so much in his life. I’m not one for pan-and-scan conversions but knowing of Media’s pioneering position for consumers, associated with the era’s unmistakable home aspect ratio, to be thrown in the trash without consideration, is unfortunate.

It’d be a treat to ask Charles personally about the “Wizard Games” venture. I’d be fascinated to hear the details, from inception, fruition, marketing & closure. It would be interesting to hear the direct facts (albeit a simple or short story, or perhaps a more involved one).

Oh, man! That was the ONLY way to watch the movie while growing up! So there’s my nostaligia for it! That’s my childhood. I wish they’d actually put that version out in the same pan and scan with the wonderful mono soundtrack on Bluray! Ahhh, to dream! But naw, they seem never to look at what the people actually want in a release! Dumbasses!
