Read what happened with Jay Allan’s Kirk.

What I’m unclear on is if Jay’s Kirk was stolen or if it was destroyed? I don’t know anything about mask making so maybe the answer if obvious, but I’ve read conflicting threads in the forum that mention he destroyed it attempting whatever it was he was attempting, but I’ve also read that he "stole’ it.

Also, I just want to add:

Jay, if you’re reading any of this and it’s reopening old wounds, I’m sorry, man. We don’t mean to dredge up the past, but it’s good for us newbies to know what happened. Hope you’re well.

Jay Allen sent the 1975 Kirk to get it foam filled by Terry. However, knowing that Terry had a genuine 1975 Kirk in his hands, he didn’t want to miss the opportunity to create a accurate Myers, and instead of honoring Jay’s simple request of foam filling the mask, Terry attempted to recast it, and lied about the recast Jay sent him to cover up his tracks, but we all know it isn’t Jay’s mask. The process of trying to recast Jay’s Kirk DESTROYED the mask.

Luckily Terry lost in court, and Jay received his compensation as a result.

Terry did not steal the mask, just destroyed it.

Oh wow! Yikes lol. I appreciate you sharing it.

This^. Terry destroyed the mask with the recasting process. I think people just used “stole” to describe what Terry did because he “took it and didn’t give it back”, but as Rod said that is because he destroyed it. His original intent isn’t confirmed (to my knowledge) but I imagine he planned on using the recast to produce more masks and to return the OG Kirk to Terry. The bad recast was just his attempt at covering it up I think.

I have a saved photo somewhere of the destroyed mask but I’ll have to look for it.

In the meantime, here’s a thread from that time that I suggest looking at in addition to some of the related threads below.

I see. So the mask is destroyed.

Ghost, you and Rod will have to forgive my ignorance, what is foam filling and why did Jay want his mask filled with foam? Is this a way of helping a mask keep its shape without having to stuff it?

Also, how in the heck does a guy who makes masks for a living just up and destroy one trying to recast it? How do you even recast a mask? I’m so lost on the process of mask making, but I’m really interested in learning about it. Is there a youtube video I can watch or an article I can read that can catch me up on mask making?

You are correct. Foam filling is done to a mask in order to preserve its shape and give a sturdy backing to the mask. Good Kirk examples of this car Darren’s Kirk and Foreys old kirk.

Honestly, I don’t think it was an overnight change like that. Terry knew he didn’t have permission to re-cast Jay’s Kirk, he was fully intending to do that behind Jay’s back. That’s already enough to show one’s true colors, but then he lied and sent back an awful imitation trying to claim it was the original THEN proceeded to lie about having cancer on top of that and accepted money from other people for said fake illness. Those are not things that someone just up and decides to do. He was already a bad dude, clearly. As for how he was a mask maker and still managed to fuck up the process that bad, we don’t know the exact process he attempted so the best I can figure is accidents happen and something went wrong. He was slathering a then 30 year old mask with chemicals to make a mold, so the odds weren’t in his favor to begin with tbh.

There are plenty of mask making tutorials, but none of them are going to teach you about re-casting. It’s a taboo subject and it is mainly not discussed (at least publicly anyway) for fear of it being used by scum bags to steal art and scam others.

THIS!

Got it. Re-casting is Voldemort.

…I’ve heard the term “clay press” or “clay pressing” float around a bit and I always assumed that was some kind of technique for copying the likeness of a mask. Like, literally pressing the mask into a hunk of clay to capture the detail of the mask… to copy it… and to “re-cast” it. Anyway, enough of that. I don’t want to stir up any stuff.

Thanks for the info, guys!

I also heard his CGP WARLOCK is a recast of Justin’s NNM78, just Terry stuffed the nnm78 to give it a H2 stretch and then recast it.

Not sure if this is true, but given Terry’s shady history and confirmed bad dealings, Im not too surprised if this is true.

Yeah, I understand why 1975 Kirk owners are so nervous to have their mask being recasted, even by a reputable artist. There’s a very high chance their mask will end up being destroyed, or later develop rot due to the chemicals from the recasting process

The Warlock and Fear are recasted off Justins NMM78, just stuffed to get the Warlock and Castle stretch, really badly too. He even recasted Justins H6 mask to make his own too, he’s not even a sculptor, or mask maker, just a recaster and painter

Its ok being brought up. Anytime the truth about Terry Lambert can be brought to the light is fine with me. Those months trying to get my mask back or compensation felt like the most helpless time of my life. Maybe i will do a video in the summer. My insurance came thru and even with all he did he told them I WAS COMMITTING INSURANCE FRAUD.

If you do make a video, I will gladly share it around!

From what I remember, the original kirk wasn’t destroyed as such, just had a ton of patches where the paint had come off.

CGP has probably repaired it and kept it?

Still blows my mind people still support him…

yeh, its crazy… he’s a has-been… he was good back in the day, but there are better options out there these days.

I remember giving him money for his cancer treatment back in the day… wonder if he even had cancer?

Richard… The “paint” never came off, there was never paint on it. Jays mask was an upainted blank That jay haired in the late 90s. Imo Terry patched it… The mask was in VERY rough shape. I think Terry after patching it just made a direct cast of it and ripped it apart as he was trying to remove it by accident. Then he used the mold to make a recast and try to pass it off as Jays real mask. Terry is a POS and I’ve always told people to avoid the guy. Terry to this day claims he sent J his Kirk…

I called and emailed Terry numerous times after he sent back the bogus recast. I wanted my mask back. He NEVER replied to me EVER. I STILL WANT MY MASK BACK…IF IT EXISTS.

This

This is the part I was unclear on, whether or not your mask still exists. I find it extremely difficult to believe a professional mask maker would unintentionally destroy a mask. This is what he does for a living. I mean accidents happen, but if the opinions of everyone here are to be believed, this guy has made a career out of recasting masks… it stands to reason he knows exactly what he’s doing and how to do it. How does a guy like that just “accidentally” destroy a mask? Something just seems off. There’s a part of me that suspects your mask is still around.

I guess my question would be, how did the photos of your “destroyed” Kirk surface? Why would he let something like that leak if he were trying to fool you into believing the bogus mask was real? Was that a part of the lawsuit? Also, who’s to say the mask in those photos is your mask? Do you believe they are pictures of your Kirk?

I have so many questions, but I really do feel bad bringing this stuff up. At the end of the day, I’m just sorry, Jay. Such a crappy stain in the hobby’s history.

I’m so glad you have a new Kirk, man. Which, by the way, is amazing! Be honest, have you tried putting it on? I know I wouldn’t be able to resist. Lol.
