Removing the smell and repainting the mask.

I got an H2 Mask last week and I can’t stand the smell. I’ve tried to air it outside (in the shade) and it’s gone a little, but the smell is so strong, I feel sick to wear it. Any method for removing or masking the smell and not destroying the mask material?
Also painting, there’s several guides and how-to’s here and around the web but I’m still not sure. I don’t want to use spray paints and only have acrylics with brushes and sponges, but what’s the best/safest method and materials for painting an H2 and an H40? Thanks.

It’s funny that as I post this, I get links to similar posts below. I’m in Australia and I think I can get some makeup liquid latex, was wondering if that was the same thing used for mask painting.

How are we supposed to know what your mask smells like?

Is the smell of cigarettes? I had a mask I had to get rid of because the disgusting cigarette smell was embedded in it forever. I left it in the shed for 3 days, tried everything.

I own an H2 as well and it has a usual smell that smells like ass, all tots H2 masks have that smell

Warm soapy water? Then frebreeze?

Try putting it in a box with a few dryer sheets. Try not to let the dryer sheets touch the mask itself. Not sure they’d effect the latex mask, but better safe than sorry. Leave it sealed up a few days and see if the smell is gone.

Another idea I’ve had for this is those little balls you put in sneakers/gym bags to get rid of the odor. I think they have activated carbon in them, which is the same thing in odor removing air filters. So maybe the same method with a few of them?
