As were all mask collectors here, we should all know that heart breaking moment we notice time has taken it’s toll on our beloved masks, luckily a huge aspect of what we do at the studio is repair and restoration…
Here’s a few repair jobs I’ve done. Some from the past, some I’ve just done and the Alien is on-going.
First we have Cinema Secrets Restoration:
This mask was actually in very good shape…apart from the fact a previous owner cut the neck off.
Using another mask as reference, a new neck was sculpted, molded, cast, attached and blended in. I had to make sure the sculpt would fit the inside of the mask (like a glove) and that it would fit properly once cast (accounting for latex shrinkage)
It took a long time, but everything couldn’t of gone smoother…
Next up we have a Buried that had a rip on the neck that was quite a simple fix and a KH mask which I fixed the eye cuts and matched the paint.
Then we have a NAG Nightmare which was sent to me for a full overhaul. But before I got started with the paint I fixed up the (rushed?) original eye cuts.
Finally a 1995 Distortions ‘’UFO set with hands’’ This huge mask had some major dry rot. All the major cracks and tears were repaired before being foam filled. Currently he’s having the dry rot treated and repaired….
