Hi all. I apologize for two similar threads in the last few days, but I just finished this up and was excited to show it off. I had so much fun overhauling my Rubies H4 that I went ahead and got an H5 from amazon. It came this afternoon and I spent all evening getting to work on it. I was pretty impressed with the sculpt to be honest. The hair was the worst part. I combed out a BUNCH of it, used a heat gun to may it down a bit, very lightly airbrushed some black streaks, and hairspray to keep it in place. I then added the eye sore nose appliance. I’m not a fan of the look of it on the real mask, but I wanted mine to be as accurate as possible so I had to include it. I then altered the eye holes and painted the entire mask white. I used a foam brush and dabbed the paint to give the mask a slight texture. I repainted the eyebrows, then got to work on the weathering. I tried a different approach to this. I took some chalk pastels (black and grey) and scraped them with a blade into a fine powder. I then applied the powder with a brush. I liked this as it was very subtle, allowing me to go heavier in some places and lighter in others. That’s basically all that was done. What you see below is the finished mask
Overall, I’m happy with what I did to this mask. Not a bad sculpt to begin with, much like the H4 it needed to be brought back to shape with some heat, but it was a good base. The original hair was awful, but after it was combed and altered it worked well enough for me to keep it. It was a fun project and I look forward to adding it to my collection and my upcoming display.
As always thanks for taking a minute to check it out. Let me know what you think!
Awesome job man, I must say, I’m impressed! I honestly never felt like the Rubies H5 was an accurate representation of the actual mask, but your conversion proves it can be done, great work!
Thank you! It’s sort of a diamond in the rough. I think it kinda gets looked down upon for the sole reason that it’s from Rubies. Same goes for the H4. Out of the box (or bag in this case lol) they’re not the best, but for $38 and a little TLC they can be a decent representation of the movie masks. It IS an H5, after all, so if it looked good it would be inaccurate [emoji6]
Very impressed with this man!! That looks way better than I ever thought this H5 could!! Really good work, and approach. I actually have a fondness for for H5 and it’s version of the mask, and you nailed it. Very cool
Oh yeah that’s looking good. Shit, it looks more like a part 5 mask than a lot of independent part 5 versions! The sculpt on the part 4 and 5 really aren’t bad at all, it’s just the cheap latex and hair, and cheap paint job really lose the look of the sculpt. I have one of these Rubies part 5 masks as well.
When I shared photos of it last year, people were surprised it actually looked as good as it did after I did a few minor changes to it and heated it up to bring out the shape better. Pun intended there lol.
But wow man you went the extra mile and that is damn near spot on to the original part 5 look. I know many hate part 5 and the mask, but I for one like the look of it. And you nailed it man, that is definitely Michael in part 5. Looking real good.
I really appreciate that brother. Means a lot. I’m really digging this mask the more I look at it. I’m always kind of over critical of my own work, but seeing some other die hard Myers fans’ opinions on it makes me feel better. Definitely excited to put this one in my display
Really great work and hopefully when the time comes tots can make a decent h5 mask that looks more or less like this one, you cant beat the price and personally i have always loved the h5 mask in a elseworlds type of way. Out of all the masks it looks the most brutal and savage, it may not have that “traditional” myers look but im glad they took a chance in h5 and tried to make it look different while still retaining the myers “look” somewhat.
Insanity man. The nose appliance looks awesome and it truly looks like a brand new mask. I have a new appreciation for the Rubies H4 and H5 sculpts after seeing what a little TLC is capable of!

Thanks brother! They’re really not bad at all for $35, I’ve seen people get them on sale for like $17 and that’s just insane. It was a very fun project and I really enjoyed the whole process
