RZ Halloween

Just have a question, As much as I liked & thought the RZ’s Halloween installments were excellently made, I did however think that Mr. Zombie is going in the direction that John Carpenter & Debra Hill did not want to go in with the whole “Scary Movie / Haunted House " Theme. In an interview with Mr carpenter he stated ( And this is NOT a quote ), The whole reason for the quiet middle class neighborhood was supposed to make it scarier because all this killing is happening in a neighborhood were residents felt " Safe”. Now all of a sudden RZ comes out with Michael having an abusive Step-Father, a Mom who is a stripper, they appear to be on welfare, And they live in a Fucked up house. A complete 360. I dunno…Just a thought.

Yeah, a lot of members on here have a problem with that. Others don’t. What can you do, ya know?

I still think the RZ Movies are good as Hell, But I do like the Originals better. I wonder if Mr Akkad would have been alive when RZ made these if he would’ve approved.

In the Original the “middle class neighborhood” your making referance to is the nieghborhood in which Laurie and her friends are on being hunted. In Rob Zombie’s halloween , aside from little Mikey’s extended murder spree all the killings take place in that same middle class neighborhood so I really dont see and 360 type action going on lol. Lets not forget that if he had just made the same movie over again everyone would be complaining that he didnt put his own twist on it

ya thats one of the main reason i don’t like his remake

good points

I think the main poster of this thread isnt wording his thoughts properly. first he states something about the haunted house theme, then states how in RZ’s the house was messed up. I just saw it as a down on their luck family in a good neighborhood. It happens all over. The family seemed to be normal till the father died.
