For those who have seen it, I posted in the projects page of the forums, I’m currently working on a screen accurate (or as close to) H1 Myers, in order to celebrate my six years of doing Michael, and to celebrate the 45th anniversary of the first movies release!
In reference to that, I said I was gonna go look for a pair of somewhat close pair of jungle boots, get as close as possible to the originals since it’s be impossible to find an actual pair. But lo and behold, I found some…
While not Altima’s, I did find a pair of vintage 1966’ stamped government issue Vietnam Jungle boots in olive green drab… with vibram soles, and the best part, MY SIZE! Looked at the photos and seller reviews, and immediately jumped on buying them.
As you’d expect with 57 year old boots, they’re a bit stiff, but wearing them a bit and moving around/flexing the boots, the leather started to loosen, and they fit great, I was worried about them being a narrow pair, but honestly it just grips the sides of my feet just right!

I’ve been wearing them for about an hour or so now, and during that time, they did not feel to tight, but wound up cutting off just enough circulation to make me start to feel stomach sick and queasy. If your boot has a removable sole, TAKE IT OUT! It will give you so much room on the top of your foot, and actually makes the boot a lot comfier. Suffice to say, I did that and about five minutes later, I feel fine!
Boots are a lot comfier than I thought they’d be. I’ll give another update in about 24 hours.
I wore them around at my work today (standard retail job) to break them in, and they fit so much better than before (just breaking in unworn 57 year old shoes, went about six hours before wanting to swap into sneakers or something softer, but even then. Roughly how long I’d want to wear them at a con.
I have the exact same pair myself I bought a few years ago I found them on eBay with the vibram soles and they are also narrow I was worried too because they look a little bit like skis they are a size 12 narrow but they do fit me and they’re stiff as hell.
Nice find! To be honest I didn’t have any trouble locating any when I was looking a few years ago I just had to know what to look for, but it didn’t take me very long I think they are definitely out there if you look hard.
Yeah I’ve heard that several times actually when I first talked about getting them somebody said the same thing. Is they used to soak them in warm water to soften them up. I may have to try that.
I actually didn’t do that myself, instead just wore them frequently! And I figured out what the issue with my right boot was (if I had mentioned it one one of my previous posts) but the boot itself was twisted slightly, but I was able to help reshape the boot by hand by just twisting it the opposite direction, and I must say, it fits like a dream now!
As a matter of fact, they’re actually now my everyday shoe, replacing my Nike’s and Initial D New Balances I used to wear, and the compliments I get on them everyday is actually astounding! 10/10 my forever boot choice!

The other fellow I heard it from was from an old timer coworker friend of mine who wore them for several years when he served and he said the same thing you put him on he has stand in some warm water for a while the soften I’m up and you can stretch them out a little bit that way. And I guess you can always just wear them in too as mentioned.
