Screen Matching the Prop Store H8 mask

Ever since I was a kid, I was obsessed with this particular photo of the mask from H8:

I just loved the style of it and since H8 was the first Halloween film I saw when I was a kid (don’t judge me lol) it always had a particular spot in my heart as far as production masks go.

That being said, when the mask came up in the propstore auction I was absolutely thrilled. These are really the first nice high quality photos we have of the mask, so I decided to try and screen match it. The mask has “Stunt II” located on the inside, but the mask didn’t match to any of the 3 different masks that can be ID’d in H8.

It seemingly didn’t match to any of these so I decided to do a little more digging and go frame by frame on each time we see a mask to try and find identifiable details.

Eventually I was able to match it to the mask used during Busta Rhymes and Michael’s fight scene, as well as Donna’s death scene!

One feature that does not match is the overspray on the hairline. We can see in the movie screenshots that the overspray is misted just like the other masks, suggesting that it was repainted or painted over at some point.

Further evidence of this touch up is that we see two shades of brown paint, there is a darker brown that is harshly overlapping lighter brown mist:

Hope you all enjoyed the thread even if you didn’t enjoy Resurrection! Lol

that is insane O_o If they only knew, Brad gough the costume designer said the coveralls/boots etc were all thrown out after
wrapping filming

Great to see this mask screen matched! and confirmation it is a screenused mask! Resurrection would have to have been my first sequel film after seeing H1 and 2, so it does hold a closeness to me as well, I am also very fond of the masks look and Brad Lorree’s match up to what Nick Castle did!

it’s crazy! I could hardly give the H20 mask away 5 years ago!

It doesn’t look like the screen shots have a mouth slit? i do remember the mask busta wears when he comes face to face with the real Michael having a mouth slit, so maybe it’s just hard to tell. Nice work matching the mask. Love post like this
