Shape human or supernatural according to DDG?

Just saw an interview with David Gordon Green where he stated that his Michael Myers is just human. Interesting considering the shape in kills feels beyond human. Thoughts?

My thoughts are that he’s still human, but the more he kills and puts fear in people, the more he becomes something more. Probably to the point where you will have to throw him in the wood chipper to really kill him lol. Human with a supernatural element, like Carpenter intended. We don’t know what it is, because he’s human and shouldn’t be able to take this punishment, but he can and we don’t know how or why it’s possible. We should be asking these questions, but we shouldn’t know the answers. That makes him the Boogeyman. My opinion.

Supernatural for sure, the ghost of the boy was in the window, that’s the first supernatural thing to ever happen in Myers. That’s cool.

100% agreed. I’ve seen interviews over the years where John Carpenter and Debra Hill both admit ambiguity made it all the more creepy.

Keep it a mystery. It’s never ending this way. Look at the predator franchise the more we knew the worse it all went. Myers is pure evil. That’s all we need to know.

The ambiguity of his humanity has been present since the first movie, and it’s something that I’ve always liked about these movies. A normal man couldn’t have survived 6 slugs, two stabbings, and falling off a second story balcony, only to get up and walk home anymore than a normal man could have survived the beating Michael received at the end of Kills. How human Michael is has always been up to the director of any particular movie, but Michael will always be Haddonfield’s Boogeyman. And you can’t kill the Boogeyman.
