Just wanted to add that my Lunatic from 2012 from Mr. Mabry is a perfect example in the pics in this thread. It is not overboard.I asked Justin to make it look aged like in H2 and he did exactly what he does so well.It came out brilliant and the pics I posted actually show it.The yellowing is there but is subtle and perfect.
Yeah, I guess white balance can play tricks on us, but like has been mentioned, the eye is white and blue, so the balance can’t be far off, showing the mask did actually have a creamy/yellow tinge IMO.
For me, a H1 would have to be bright white with minimal detailing (if any at all) and some fleshtones around the neck, then a H2 would have to look like the first kill scene - yellowed and generally grimy. I see lots of H2’s that are imo too white and overly fleshtoned and dirty, and I personally don’t see it as a H2. For me it should be yellowed and have some wear around the edges of the facial features but nothing extreme.
You have to remember the H1 mask was in no way taken care of during filming. Most people would say it was abused.Back then alot of people smoked cigs.Im sure the mask was left in the sunlight alot.It was probably thrown around like any cheap mask would be.It may even have a few beer stains on the chin and neck(LOL)… All of this can age a mask pretty quick.I know cigarette smoke really sticks to a mask.I think with abuse and improper storage it just aged the mask quickly and this gave the mask the dirty H2 look…
Even without smoke, an improper sealant will eventually cause the mask to go yellow in just a couple of years. By the time DW recieved the mask at Rosenthall’s office, he stated it had already yellowed.
I love the color of the mask Si posted when the shape stabs the girl with the Elrod
For me a tanned/almost greenish look all the way=Yellowed
I Picked up this NAG JA75 H2 some guy had it in his loft for years it’s yellowed but i think it makes the H2 look really cool and old
I usually wonder why h2’s don’t have a lot more fleshtone showing. The real h2 had a ton of fleshtone all along the jawline, the mouth, the ears,…a lot of the original white seems to have worn off
I see less yellow and more of a cool slightly greenish grey color.
And tons of kirk flesh coming through
I deliberately mixed some yellow into my TOTS H2 paint job. The Elrod is just off white, and a bit dirty.
Warm lighting tends to mask the difference in tones. To my eye under white light, only one of these masks is actually yellowed.
I kind of went for a ‘what I see on the screen’ palette.
I also added some tan-yellow white paint to my Kirk to give it an H2 look. I feel like replicating what people think they see is better than directly replicating the real props. Similar to the Vader gunmetal on the helmet debate.
