Should Michael have been unmasked more in H2?

I can’t help but think how much more brutal some of the kills would have been if Michael wasn’t wearing a mask. Like the nurse killing scene. This picture here:

Makes me think this would be a more extreme kill with Michael grunting without his mask. And the scene with Annie, when she shuts the mirror. I think that would be pretty sweet to see her shut the mirror and the audience sees an unmasked Michael Myers in the mirror. Which, by the way, (this may sound stupid) to me it looks like Michael is unmasked when he chases Annie in the trailers. Heres the picture i have of that, its kinda blurry but try to tell me what you think.

I know the beard sticks out of the mask but I don’t think it sticks out that much.

I don’t know about you guys but Michael unmasked in this movie looks better than him with the mask (and I love the mask look too). What do you think?

Then why call it Halloween? Hell, it was barely a Halloween movie to begin with. While we’re at it, let’s just take away Jason’s hockey mask, or Freddy’s glove, or Leatherface’s chainsaw. It was bad enough he was unmasked as much as he was in the movie. It was big part of why the movie was ruined for me.

right on

I agree 100%

Agree with the majority here, I was one of the few who enjoyed H2 but thought it exposed Michael too much.

In alot of the deleted scenes Michael was unmasked like the Rabbit in Red scene where he doesn’t have a mask (Even in the deleted scene of the alternate killings),the beer guy and we can’t forget the bigfoot scene.

No, he was unmasked too mucha as it is. Cant take way what made michael so popular. wiht out the mask he looks like some random guy killing people.

Lets say there is another ANOES movie come out and we find out that he is not wearing his glove in half the movie!!! then still call it a nightmare movie. Its seeing his glove in the shadows and the sounds it make is what makes the Nightmare movies creppy. Same as michaels mask, the blank mask is creppier vs an angry face!!! Cant take away what made these characters what they are today!!!

Thats very true. I never thought of it like that.

Yeah if you take away what defined the charcter then you really dont have that character…I agree 100% that Michael was already unmasked too much in H2…Take away that mask then why would you call him Michael Myers…At that point you may as well not even make it a Halloween film but rather make a totally different character with a totally different title…As Dren pointed out earlier…I think he had a psychotic look when unmasked but I dont believe he was scarier or looked more creepy without it…The myers mask IMO is the most iconic, and psychotic looking mask to ever hit the big screen…That mask is just plain out evil looking and its all down to that blank emotionless look :sunglasses:

I definitely agree with the majority. When I first saw RZ’s H2, I thought it was the biggest pile of shit ever made. I was so pissed about so many things… such as, Dr. Loomis being a complete prick, Laurie being a typical “I don’t give a f*** about the world teenager” (I know she went through some traumatizing crap, but it just felt fake to me), Michael grunting, Sheri Moon and her “Pamela Voorhees dressing in The Living Dead Girl” costume, using a different “Young Michael”, not using any of the Halloween themes (except for the final 4 seconds of the damn film)… the list can keep going, but whatever. Recently, I just watched H2 again, and have come to realize, that it is something special. I wanted to like it so much when it was released. I have been a fan of Rob and White Zombie for friggin’ years. So I was so saddened that he released that piece of crap… but now, I see it in a whole different light. I actually like the film now. I can actually, digest it. Basically, this is Halloween in Rob’s universe. I think he really needs to stop with making every damn character a redneck though… that shit is annoying and doesn’t serve any damn purpose. No matter how far he strays from Halloween formula, it is still a Halloween film and doesn’t need any of his “Devil’s Rejects” characters in it. It’s been done in every one of your movies, time to leave it alone. But, I like the fact the the film is extremely depressing and gritty. That’s what he wanted. It was very real and very raw. It doesn’t feel like a Halloween film, but if you try to step back and take it as a different drug, you just might enjoy it for being a decent and disturbing horror film. The whole White Horse grew on me as well. Nice touch. And as for the soundtrack, it actually goes with the film really well… I never thought that I could ever like this movie. Damn this is long… who the hell is gonna read this?!? LMFAO! :smiling_imp:

I read it… lol …and you make a good point BUT…the whole loomis being a prick thing i still hate it doesn’t make any sense at all compared to what how he was in H1 …but everything else about H2 is awesome in my book

I think Michael was masked & unmasked just as often as he should have been in H2 :drinkers:

I think Rob Zombie’s version of Halloween was a flop.

yup

I completely disagree,I think he shouldve been masked ALOT more. They shouldnt have revealed michaels face that much,it takes away the whole creepy affect.

I don’t think he should have been unmasked more, but I think what parts he was unmasked was ideal for Rob’s vision. Rob has said hundreds of times now he focused on making things as realistic as possible in these films. Sure he stretches things here and there. (I’m sure the producers had a little hand in that.) But it’s a movie. Going on the lines of realistic, I can totally see no point in why Michael would wear the mask out in the fields just walking out and about for 1 year-(theatrical cut) / two years-(Director‘s Cut). We’ve all worn them. They come off pretty fast cause it can get awful hot and uncomfortable in there. So I get that from a realistic standpoint, and the fact it’s pointless out there by yourself. If Michael had many kills with the mask off then yes, I agree with what others have said. It’s defacing what is, Michael Myers. That mask. Michael is humanized in such a way with these two films it’s just a different take on what he’s always been, hence remake/re-imagining. and we get true glimpses of that throughout RZ’s two films, especially, H2. RZ’s H1 is telling Michael’s story. It’s all about Michael from start to finish. H2 is viewing of both Michael & Laurie’s lives in the aftermath. And I loved the fact that he had to use the same mask from some ritual standpoint he holds.

Lucky, he only has one kill without the mask on, and that can be chalked up to just, Michael walking up on Howard, unprepared. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think you misunderstood his post…

OOPS my bad i thought ment that he disagreed with every one and not the main post, I re-read it and now i feal stupppid

I’ve said that same thing about a hundred times. A guy wouldn’t walk around in a mask 365 days a year. It would be stupid. I can see him doing it in Smith’s Grove because his masks were just paper, but the white mask is heavy and no one would wear that 365 days a year.
