I’m just really curious. Why has no mask maker made a Myers Mask out of Silicone other than the one that I’ve heard Dick Warlock has.
It would be so much easier to Castle or Warlock stretch silicone would it not?
What are your thoughts?
Nick
Son I’ve often wondered the same thing. I’ve owned a few silicone masks at this point and you just can’t top the quality. All the features would be retained and any stretch you put on it would look killer. Also the life of the mask would be vastly improved.
They probably arent made in silicone due to the hero being latex. It would be a pain weathering and hairing a silicone mask to look like an old latex mask I would think. But now you guys have me wanting one. lol
There’s just no way a silicone Myers would look appropriate. (if you are trying to match a previous style, that is). If silicone is poured too thin, it won’t hold it’s shape at all. Too thick, and it would look bizarre. Especially in the eye cuts and whatnot. Not to mention that fact that you’d almost suffocate lol.
Actually I’ve seen all kinds of paint ups on silicone. Making it look like a old latex mask shouldn’t be a problem to any of the skilled artists we have in the hobby now.
I certainly don’t want to suffocate Scott
Nick
Totally agree Ryan. I’ve seen many silicone masks weathered. I don’t think that is the issue. Also Scott made sense with the suffocating thing, but regarding what was said about the eye cuts and such, how do freddy masks and such hold their shape so well as where a Myers mask would not??
Nick
Silicone is alot more expensive then just regular latex. The prices would skyrocket more then they already are, in most cases.

I see your point. freddy masks are usually sculpted with intentions of the mask being poured really thin around those areas as a natural face. with the cheek bones being prominent and the silicone being poured thinner around the socket areas. with a myers mask, it COULD work I suppose. but the thicker you make the mask, the more awkward it would look.
I think it really goes back to what someone stated above. the original was latex, so it’s just more accurate and logical to use latex.
now a silicone myers BUST…that’s another story. I’d love to have a good silicone undermask. (unlike the burned H2 one that’s floating around)

Get to work Scott
