Oddly enough, the latest Leatherface mask from TOTS, the Texas Chainsaw 3D mask, is quite stretchy. Very stretchy in fact. I just picked one up the other day and was surprised how stretchy it was. Aside from that, plenty of Indy masks use stretchy latex as well.
My Creep from 2014 has nice soft, stretchy yet strong latex, with a nice snap compared to, say, my 2010 Psycho, or my 2017 Nightmare. Though, those two are more medium pulls, while my Creep is on the thinner side for NightOwl masks. I will say that my Loper Nightmare is a fantastic mask to stuff. Takes on a Castle stretch like it was made for it, while my Creep seems to hate any kind of stuffing I put in it. I’ve taken to just leaving it unstuffed.
BTW, when I say “snap”, I’m referring to how easily the latex stretches back into place without deformation or anything like that, and if you stretch it, when it recoils it makes something of a “snapping” sound like a rubber band. Think the sound the mask masks when Tony Moran rushes to put the mask back on in the first movie. Almost every TOTS mask has stiff, junk latex with no stretch to it. Some feel almost like vinyl by comparison to some of the masks in my collection. There is one exception in my TOTS masks… My King Pumpkin is pretty stretchy, and has a very nice snap. I was surprised by the quality when I got it in hand.
My FordFX RZH1 also has an incredible stretch to it. It’s almost like wearing a mask made from rubber bands, it’s so stretchy. It’s super thin, too, which makes me thankful the seller provided the inner shell with it, because my normal way of displaying maks would not have cut it with this one.
There’s a few Ghoulish Pro masks I own like that. Marketed as kids masks, but fit my head which is in the 23 inch range. I’m actually wearing one in my avatar.
Yeah I saw you mention about the King Pumpkin mask being stretchy in your thread in the other characters section. That’s how this new Leatherface 3D mask is, it’s very stretchy and feels really nice as far as quality goes. It’s a shame they don’t use that for the majority of their masks, I prefer it for sure.
The numbers in the collage I took were all taken by the owners of the original 75 kirks. It’s not that the medley is bigger, but rather it’s more detailed than most, has a higher quality paint job, and thicker latex as well if I remember right.
Your point is valid if you have a head similar to Castle’s, but if you start off with a largish and short head with a tiny mask you’re gonna get the Warlock Stretch, so in that case if you’re after the H1 look you better off get a larger mask with some inbuilt stretch
my head is on the largish side and not that long, and even with a 24,5 in some pictures I look more like Warlock than Castle like here
Hi, i believe his point was in accurary! 25’ is way to big! If somebodys does mikey cosplay its okay! But if somebody want to collect close as it can be screenprops then its not!
WOW… I thought it was the Medley… Holy smokes… good update. What I wouldn’t give for more detailed measurements like distance from eyebrow to lips, nose length, etc…
Actually he was talking about fitting right or tight, so I presume it was all about wearing it and pull off the right look, for collecting any size is fine, you might still need to stuff the mask in a Castle fashion unless you buy the Castle wip, though I still can’t compute collection without wearing them…
Check out this video I seen over a year ago. Knew I had it saved somewhere It’s exactly what your saying. It’s one of Nick’s mold off “The dead ringer” called the “Thin Ringer” from Handiboy except this particular mask is VERY stretchy and thin. It’s similar to 78’s Hero after Laurie takes Michaels mask off exposing his face (Tony Moran) and immediately puts the mask back on and you could hear the latex making sounds due to how thin it was at the time. It’s streches so much to the point where the mask isn’t even recognizable anymore but always retains it’s shape…no pun intended, lol.
He still makes these as it’s still a new product off his website. If you haven’t seen the video which I assume you’re going to be a bit shocked at around 53 sec. It definitely creeped me out a little https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffAuxV8cOfI
When you examine the behind the scenes shots, the mask isn’t even filly worn on Castle’s face.
His actual chin isn’t even in the mask’s chin area but rather below that causing the lower area where the jaw and neck meet to bulge out.
He either wore it that way due to the mask being uncomfortable or the mask being a tad small for his long face.
Nick seems to also have a much longer face and nose than most do… I would guess that the hair fro being in the back part of the mask, pushes the mask onto his face snugly. His nose probably protrudes the mask’s nose further outward as well. Nick’s shoulder frame seems to be a bit wide to me too.
I would love somebody to do further measurements on any OG Kirk mask…
I have stuffed the back part of masks with plastic bags while wearing them, which really seemed to make the masks look the part…
yes he had an abnormally long face, that’s the reason why it’s so hard to pull off that stretch for most of us, a little bit of inbuilt Castle stretch helps if you don’t have a long face, as for his shoulder and body frame in general he looks kinda thin to me, he didn’t seem to have broad shoulders.
