For anyone who is unaware, the HMK was a first of it’s kind Halloween mask in the community- a Kirk/Myers created by a direct recast of a MINT condition 1975 Captain kirk mask. Unfortunately that original is rotted and restored, making these masks the best representation left of the original iconic and rare mask. While the project did have its flaws, it produced some beautiful masks such as this one. This particular edition is a Myers version, and from the “small” mold, measuring 23.5 around the brow with hair and 23.25 with the hair lifted up. True Kirk size! The small mold is one of, if not the, first molds Bryan made of the masks. These versions, while too small for adults, retained the original mask’s shape and details better than the enlarged release.
This copy has had a slight repair to the corner of the eye (pictured) and has a very “raw” finishing, without the heavy artificial shadowing that you see on most masks today. Signed by Bryan Hoffman.
