Pretty excited about the new movie but wasn’t crazy about the paint job when I pulled the new mask out of the envelope it was shipped in. So I repainted it, repainted the TOTs knife, and dirtied up some coveralls. Pretty happy with how it all turned out and am debating whether or not to wear it to the movie when it opens.
I figured MM.net was as good a spot as any to post the pics. Hope you like them. I really like the TOTs masks and have bought 8 of them so far. I read here that they may be releasing a pt 4 and pt 5 mask too which is pretty cool. I think so far they’ll all make fantastic bases for customizing. Much better than anything I’ve ever seen in the halloween stores before. For $60. the finish work sort of isn’t great, but the potential to be great masks is there because the underlying sculpts are so good. Very cool.
you mean if someone sent me their mask to repaint? I can’t seem to find any more 2018 masks, I’ve been looking but it seems like they’re sold out everywhere.
I could probably just sell this mask since it’s finished if someone sent me another 2018 Myers to take it’s place. I don’t like having people wait. Though I’m not opposed to selling something that’s already finished.
Send me some better pics if possible from all sides. I have a brand new tots mask that i got from party city september 1st. I could send you some pics once i get home.
Sure I can show more pics. It’s hard to get good pics of Myers it seems like. Like the light is either too dark or too bright. And it makes the mask look either too dark or too bright.
I trimmed, shaped and restyled the hair. The hairline is not 100% like it is in the trailers, but it’s pretty close. I really think TOT makes a great mask for converting. It’s a great base to start with, like a blank hockey mask. You get a good base, you can make a nice mask.
It’s why I’ve bought almost all the TOT Myers masks and will buy a 4 and 5 as soon as they’re available. Though the 2018 is the only one I’ve had time to repaint so far, I have a bunch more that are waiting for me to get to them.
(they’re kept in the toy room on top of plastic covered mannequin heads, and then covered in plastic for storage. No one here smokes but I don’t want them getting dusty or anything. )
I was thinking about trimming the neck but I guess I keep forgetting to do it. I need to weather the boots too.
I wrapped plastic around the handle and taped it off. Lightly sanded the blade then sprayed gloss black on it and then silver chrome metallic on it.
took off the plastic wrap and with brown and black acrylic I washed and repainted the handle and did some light brown weathering on the blade.
The blood is just acrylic black and red mixed together into a shade I liked and dabbed onto the blade to give it a chunky texture then I hit it with a hairdryer to dry it really quick. Once it was dry I brushed it with Liquitex Gloss Acrylic Fluid Medium Varnish to give it a shiny/wet look.
I plan on doing something similar with the ToT ‘The Shining’ Axe, because I want an axe for the part 6 Myers costume I’m making. (I’m making pt 1, pt 2, pt 6, and pt h40.)
