Someone is stealing our pictures from this site

I just had a incident no long ago… I won’t post pics in here until i put my trademark ©… I caught a member here in the classified using my photo for a sale… Not only for the sale, but he developed & frame the pic without my permission & was going to sale the pic along with the mask… This is Bad!!

For the record… I am the member CARLOS is referring to. But he has it ALL WRONG!!! When I purchased the mask from him several months ago HE sent me the pics he is referring to. The pics are of Mr Warlock signing the mask. These photos are PROOF that the mask was indeed signed by him and are used as the CERTIFICATE of AUTHENTICITY. I was going to INCLUDE them with the mask sale NOT SELL THEM to make extra money on them. I am NOT a thief and never will be. I have been an upstanding member here at M-M.NET and just wanted to put this out in the open in case it somehow get twisted. I am sorry Carlos that you don’t seem to understand that about the photos. But they are my only proof that the mask I purchased from you is indeed authentically signed by Mr. Warlock and were part of the mask purchase. Mike

I hear ya man, I did not know you could do that. Wow, then I guess we are all subject to falling victim to picture piracy. Oh well, I guess we all need to just watch each others backs then.

I honestly don’t see there being a 100% effective solution to this problem. If the board were to make photos “un-savable” (like in the gallery) it would cause a lot of inconvenience on us, as fans, who enjoy sharing and saving pics from one another. And even then, the screen cap feature generally overrides any right-click prevention feature.

The only solution I could even assume would HELP is to make the board viewable by members only. But even then, we’d be excluding possible members or important people who may not be familiar with the site. (my friend Dick Warlock, for example). Some may have never joined if they were not intrigued by a public topic that caught their attention and motivated them to create and account.

I hate to rain on anyone’s parade, but there will always be scammers out there. If you are truly worried about your pictures being used elsewhere, you should learn to accept it and do what Carlos suggested and copyright your photos somehow with either a signature or a translucent copyright. That’s the best thing you can do.

Otherwise, there really isn’t MUCH you can do.

This is completely understandable Mike. You had no other way to prove the signature was authentic. The picture of Dick signing the mask was essentially the “COA” for the signature, and I don’t see anything wrong with including it even if you didn’t take the picture. After all you weren’t selling the photo but rather including it so the seller knew that what they were receiving was authentic. I don’t think you were out of line at all.

Thank you my friend. I am an honest person and just wanted say so. I paid a good amount of money to have the pics custom matted and framed to be included in the sale only. These things can get twisted and I don’t want that.

I would stay away from that guy. He made some pretty bad threats. I think he is a bit unstable. He knows he is using a stolen picture, he just refuses top admit it now that he has been caught.

Yeah I don’t know who this nutcase is but I think he just talks a big game. He’s probably some punk who could not fight his way out of a wet paper sack, but none the less best not take any chances. I have reported him to ebay for making threats
