WATCH OUT GUYS! This seller on ebay davis_515 is stealing pictures from here on MM.Net and using them in his fraudulent ebay listings. This is the auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320489872842 I think we should have some better security on here so no one can copy any of our pics. If you happen to be bidding on this auction retract your bid as it is obviously a BIG scam! Thomas still owns this mask that I sold him. Watch out everyone.
Here are the pics he stole from me, my Tony pics where I once had it listed here.
I like this idea a lot! I personally ALWAYS ask permission to save a photo from another user and ALWAYS let them know it’s for my own personl enjoyment only. It’s a respect thing…ya know?
Nick
Im with you on that one, what about putting our user names in a low capacity opague from photoshop over the pic to where if its stolen the name is over it, but low enough we can still see all of our hard work and new scores?
I honestly don’t see there being a 100% effective solution to this problem. If the board were to make photos “un-savable” (like in the gallery) it would cause a lot of inconvenience on us, as fans, who enjoy sharing and saving pics from one another. And even then, the screen cap feature generally overrides any right-click prevention feature.
The only solution I could even assume would HELP is to make the board viewable by members only. But even then, we’d be excluding possible members or important people who may not be familiar with the site. (my friend Dick Warlock, for example). Some may have never joined if they were not intrigued by a public topic that caught their attention and motivated them to create and account.
I hate to rain on anyone’s parade, but there will always be scammers out there. If you are truly worried about your pictures being used elsewhere, you should learn to accept it and do what Carlos suggested and copyright your photos somehow with either a signature or a translucent copyright. That’s the best thing you can do.
Very well said, I agree 100%. Sadly this problem is just ‘part of the internet’. It happens all the time, and although I totally agree that it is WRONG and unfair, we will never be able to stop it.
For the record… I am the member CARLOS is referring to. But he has it ALL WRONG!!! When I purchased the mask from him several months ago HE sent me the pics he is referring to. The pics are of Mr Warlock signing the mask. These photos are PROOF that the mask was indeed signed by him and are used as the CERTIFICATE of AUTHENTICITY. I was going to INCLUDE them with the mask sale NOT SELL THEM to make extra money on them. I am NOT a thief and never will be. I have been an upstanding member here at M-M.NET and just wanted to put this out in the open in case it somehow get twisted. I am sorry Carlos that you don’t seem to understand that about the photos. But they are my only proof that the mask I purchased from you is indeed authentically signed by Mr. Warlock and were part of the mask purchase. Mike
I noticed on a lot of other sites you cannot right click and steal a picture. If you want to share a picture with someone email it to them. I don’t think throwing our hands up and saying oh well it’s part of the internet is a real solution, when there is something that can be done. Watermarking is one solution I suppose. We should ALWAYS ask permission first no matter what the case may be. That’s just showing respect
Just giving my opinion, Ron, but you’ll never stop people ‘screen capping’ so to speak. Even if Derek did make the board so that people could not right click, it would not solve the issue.
There is no way to fight this, Ron. Even if you can’t “Save” the picture, you can still press “ctrl/Print Screen” and it will take a snap shot of your desktop… This is the downside to posting pictures on the internet unfortunately. All of the internet security in the world can’t stop people from taking these pictures. ALSO, FYI I saved a few pictures from the gallery to my phone. It didn’t stop me from saving them.
This is why I don’t hardly post pictures of my collection anymore.
