Spray for misting black...

Hey guys what would you recommend for misting hair black for sn H1 mask. I’ve been using Krylon colormax spray paint but it’s a little heavy and makes the hair stick together more than I like, even though it looks great. Streaks N’ Tips looks great but it comes out at the slightest touch, which worked great for the first movie but not so much when you want it to last.

Is there anything that’s not too heavy that wont come out when you touch it?

The only other option I can think of might be one of those modeling spray paints like you might use for model cars. I’m not sure how much that would differ from other spray paints though.

That’s a good idea thanks.

Most will water down black acrylic and spray it on.

I personally think H1 production may have sprayed a medium-dark brown and not black, but that’s just me.

I’ll be trying the cheaper Ace Hardware Flat Black one of these days on my ToTS H78

I think there might be streaks and tips cans still around these days which is what they used in the original for misting the hair…

Yeah, they’ve probably changed the formula since then, now it’s more permanent and doesn’t come off at a touch.

I just use the cheapest can of flat black they have at Canadian tire.

One thing it could be is the paint if its coming out in spurts and blobs like sometimes in cold weather.
What I do is warm the paint and it comes out smooth, it also helps if its flat black cause theres no clearcoat/poly in it

car guys/modelbuilders guys do this too, you fill your kitchen sink or a jug with the hot water out of your faucet
NOT boiled kettle water obviously
leave the paint can standing upright in there with a bowl/plate to hold it down maybe 7-10 minutes

You can google it people do itclearcoat can comes out milky, theres no harm in it I do it all the time in the winter, cause our garage is uninsulated

Just airbrush black acrylic ink, no mixing and it wears off like the original.

I use L’Oreal Magic Retouch Spray, medium brown. Because he’s worth it.

It’s no doubt overpriced, and does rub out on your hands and smear on the mask (which is handy for weathering), but it doesn’t murder the fibres if you are not silly about it, nor does it smell.

what I use is the spray on hair color from walmart. I’ve never had an issue with it coming off but the key is misting it with aqua net afterwords

Was his hair jet black or a dark brown in the film?? Never looked black but more very darkish brown to me. But it’s only my view of it.

I see dark brown. I’ve never thought black. Plus look at masks with dark brown hair vs black. The black ones always look goofy. And looking at the hero today I see no black whatsoever.
