SSN Durand VS. SSN H20 V2!

I finally got around to taking comparison pics of my two Winston H20 masks. My love for H7 nearly rivals my adoration for H6. These two masks are both stunning in person. The comparison isn’t quite fair as the V2 is still in its original condition and the Durand has been repainted and rehaired with human hair. But I’ve often heard about the differences between the two and could never see it for myself until now. In all pics the V2 is on the left and the Durand on the right. You might have to right click to see whole landscape images.

Great thread and great masks.I have an early copy Durand and it’s an amazing mask but I think I lean more towards the V2 for more accuracy.Ive never owned a v2 but from what ive seen, they look a bit more accurate, especially when worn. Both are great masks though, but the V2 just seems to have a little something that the Durand doesn’t when it comes to the sculpt. That Durand is insane though, the hair and paint are top notch.

Amazing pieces brother.

Thanks guys, I think they’re both great masks. I do think the V2 has sharper detail in some places. The lines around the mouth are deeper, the hairline is more angular and the jawline is more defined. I haven’t tried the V2 on because it’s clearly a smaller mask and probably will not fit me. The Durand is not a big mask either but I can get my head into it.

And the three faces of H20! SSN Curse, V1 and V2.

Awsome thread Jason
I’ve read somewhere that the Durand was a retooled and enlarged version of the SSN Winston line.
Though I like them both, I do find the V20 to be more defined.
And big congrats on scoring that gem :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

I think the V2 looks much better IMO. More detail.

Crisp 2’s you have there Jason and I prefer the look of SSN V2 myself.

Couple of beauties you got there. Thanks for the comparison shots, they turned out nice.

Both are amazing but for me it is V 2.0

The paint job on the V.2 is better, they both seem to have the same contours (the far away side view shots highlight the Durand’s contours well), but the paint job on the V.2 highlights them. I also like the pic of the V.1, that’s a mask that I rarely see, and the only style of Shape mask available that I do not own/have yet to purchase. I’m surprised no other company has purchased SSN’s mold or at least a copy of it.

I actually think that this KNB was blank mask from fx artist, Jason can confirm this

Thanks for the thoughts on the H20’s. The Durand does have some nice features, I honestly think the hairline and how it frames the face counts for a lot. In person I much prefer the human hair on my Durand to the hair on the V2, which is very hard to style. As for the V1, your correct that is a newer copy. Brad Hardin made it for me last year from the original mold.

If you don’t mind me asking, how much did the V.1 H:20 set you back?

V.2 FTW

The V2 is so awesome, I’d love to grab one. I’m a huge H20 fan.
