So it has been stated that Justin did a new sculpt for part 1…which makes me wonder, could there be a slight chance it’s the clean 2018 mask? Considering that it was supposed to be in a flashback to H1, it’s not too silly to think that. Probably a stretch, and not sure that’s what I would want necessarily, but it could be the case. That’s the newest “H1” sculpt he’s done, so perhaps, we shall see. At the very least they could release that particular mask as “H1 Flashback” since they have the rights to part 1 now and could call it that. That way those who loved that version could get a copy.
Personally I would be good with a low end creep, but regardless it looks like it will be an all new sculpt. Might be his best yet though so we will just have to sit tight and hope they let us see it soon, and let us pre-order in January!
That should make it easier to hit everyones Halloween goal next year, especially since they don’t have to hide these masks from the public like they had to with the 2018 mask. I still say that Universal placing the restrictions on when pre-orders could be taken and when the mask could be shipped played a major roll in the botched launch.
As long as they leave the indie artists be, I don’t mind. I think people should be able to afford cheaper masks, and at the same time have that liberty to buy a higher end mask if they wish to spend the dough.
Cant wait! This is huge news! I know with Mabry being the mind behind H1 we got nothing to worry about! Now almost anyone who enjoys the franchise will be able to afford quality replica masks. Kudos TOTS !
Tots made them themself whitout rights but other names… Elrod, hospital, ben trailer,… As long the Indie Mask makers don’t call it a Michael Myers Mask there should be no problem?

I wonder who’s mold they will take to make there H4 and H5??? I hate that they say sculpted by Justin when they are obviously not and are from other people’s molds.
Man this is killer news! We got new movies and new masks coming out. Very exciting times right now for us Myers/Halloween fans. Hopefully all the other slasher franchises get creative and put out some new stuff…with all the $$$ made of this new H40, you know they want a slice of that pie too!
I understand some excited by the prospect of an affordable H78 and that TOTS is also Mabry’s company, but let’s look at H40. HUGE positive hype for the film, a mask that fans felt was as close to the original as possible. From a business standpoint, it was always going to be huge for TOTS. It could have also been for the fans. Greater numbers of masks made, two sizes, prompt and courteous customer service when the delays became an issue. Instead, pre-orders meant nothing, many (myself included) received the mask late and in a BAG, customer service was awful, and Zephro pissed on fans who had legitimate complaints for a product they’d already pre-ordered in good faith.
How Zephro handles the business side should not be ignored because Mabry does beautiful work. We may see an amazing new H78 sculpt but if it’s in a size that doesn’t fit even a few people, has subpar paint and hair, and the customer service is still crappy, what’s the point? I shouldn’t be shit on for being a customer and then have to shell out an additional $200 to get better paint and hair. Why not just buy an indie mask in that case?
I know it’s a $60 mask that will likely be the best H78 ever mass produced, but that doesn’t change the fact that buying it tells Chris Zephro it’s okay to be an ungrateful asshat to the people who keep his business afloat. If Zephro wasn’t in the picture or at least had a dedicated customer service director who knew how to treat people, I’d be more inclined to be excited about this.
As for the indie scene, if you really think Zephro’s not going to at least try to put some of these guys out of business, you’ve either not paid attention for the last six months, are extremely naive, or are a Zephro/TOTS apologist.
I agree with absolutely everything you mentioned. It needs to be said and serve as a constant reminder. Anyone who supports Chris Zephro is condoning his awful demeanor and practices.
Maybe they are assholes to their employees, but I don’t work for him. I was a customer of his, someone that gives him business. If he continues this moronic, boorish behavior, he will have no business.
The guy seems so rude with how he responds to people. Who writes “wrong justin maybry is making a new sculpt”. He talks down to people. I cant understand how people can stand this.
Exactly. The customer is always right means you don’t talk to them like they’re a nuisance. There’s also no justification for being an asshole. Plenty of people who run companies got where they are with kindness and vision. Not worth the money or power is the cost of being a good person.
The thing that bothers me about this company is that they are offering a chucky doll for 500 bucks. There is just no way that these things cost that much to produce.
Economics 101, supply and demand. If people are willing to spend $500. on a Chucky doll then you sell them for $500.
It doesn’t matter what it costs to produce, only what people are willing to pay.
Overinflated pricing is rampant in this hobby. It creates its own (bizarre) economy.
You even see it go so far as people sort of ‘have’ to charge more for some things because others will think it’s ‘cheap’ if it’s not expensive enough. If someone made a great Myers mask and sold it for $100. You’d see a large part of the community say the mask is garbage just because it’s not expensive enough and therefore doesn’t have ‘value’ in their eyes.
Markets and Economies are really weird things. And smaller almost shadow markets like what form around particular hobbies can do really weird things sometimes. There’s people that pay thousands for a mask just because it’s a limited run. Doesn’t matter if the mask is fantastic or just another typical mask that’s part of this hobby, because it’s a limited run people will drive the price up.
The KH/DW is a fantastic example of this. Is it the greatest mask ever? I think there are many who if they were very honest would say there are less expensive masks that are better and more accurate. But because the KH/DW is limited, has ‘Mystique’, and has a high price, it’s a grail to a lot of people.
….like I said, the Market and Economy in this hobby is really weird.
