Stripping paint off mask Brothers Return v1

Looking for help/advice on stripping paint off a mask without damaging the latex. When i searched mainly found topics on tots mask. Not sure if the same methods would apply to my problem.
I have a Brothers Return v1 that appears to have been painted (poorly i might add) with regular latex paint(edit: acrylic paint) on the neck. The whites arent even close to the same shade. Its starting to crack and peel off and id like to remove it and repaint it. Just simply looking for a way to remove the paint without damaging the latex. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you buy it off a guy called Ryan by any chance?

Nope guy named carl in canada

Cool, you could always send it to Ben at father phantom studios maybe he would fix the issue for you? Just a thought

After talking to a few people, pretty sure its just plain white acrylic paint and was advised to start with rubbing alcohol first before trying other methods. Its a pain, but we are getting there. Have most of the cracking acrylic paint off, but still plenty left to do to get it back to the way it should look.

The way it is coming off is perfect man. I’d continue with that method for sure. I know it can be timely and annoying but within a few hours you will have it fully stripped! I actually love the hair on this so I’m glad you decided to only remove the paint and leave the hair as is!

Thanks, i like it too for the most part. Sometimes I think it could be more spiked or fuller. Plus I’ve never haired a mask amd don’t want to start with this one if i don’t have to. I have an elrod I’m rehauling and plan on using to practice hairing.

Definitely man. The Elrod will be great to practice on for you and truthfully the hair looks great to me. After you’re done stripping and painting the mask, maybe then you can decide if you want to keep the hair as is or completely remove it. I’d personally just style it and if you feel it isn’t full enough possibly add a few layers but it really does look good man!

Only get short periods of time to really work on the projects we have going. Having an 8 month old you take what you can get. Still stripping the paint though, getting closer slowly. Not sure why these pics always end up rotating when no other pics i post do.

You’re definitely getting there brother! I know it is a pain but patience is a virtue and you’re almost in the clear. And I have the same issue with photos. It is because the resolution is so large, I usually only get the problem if I attempt to upload a photo from my DSLR. The solution is to resize the images to about half the size to get them to post normally. Keep us posted though man, can’t wait until it is fully stripped and you are able to get to work repainting this gem!

Be careful using rubbing alcohol, it can dry out the latex and damage it and make it more prone to cracks. I use EZ Strip (Lowes or Home Depot carries it, forget which) as it’s latex safe.

Ill look into that. Seems like the latex is fine so far. As i stated only get short periods of time to work on it. I may try to get the rest off with your method.
