When these were showing up in very small numbers on message boards back in 1999 the $100 Shatners were an amazing sight for eyes that hadn’t seen a decent Shatner since 1975. While not the reproduction we hoped it’d be, it was still an incredibly unlikely event and a chance offering for collectors.
I remember wanting but never getting the $100 version back then. The $100 version just meant you could order thicker, more detailed pulls with high quality paint and hair straight from the studio if you did not want to wait for the cheaper $40 mass produced product later in the year.
Thanks to Chris I picked up this 99 Shatner blank pull done up by Colin. How cool! I have a 79’ Spock he goes nicely with.
On a side note: It’s Alive here on the forum (AKA Charles “CR” Walsh) was the man responsible for getting the Shatner reissues released at all. He submitted petition lists with thousands of legit name to DPS to prove the interest in the character.
