The annoying part of cosplaying: the collar.

This might be redundant but is there a special movie magic secret to keeping the collar popped and keeping it from crumpling down and folding over when moving around with the mask on? I have the rear of the mask velcroed shut, Ive tried the double sided tape trick but doesnt work, velcro isnt a good option either. Does starching and ironing work? Sewn in inserts? What does Chris Nelson and/or the wardrobe dept do? lol

I know what you mean, it seems like every time you move your head you have to readjust the collar, which is really annoying. It’s even worse when doing H2 or H4 cosplay where you have to button up the collar because it crumples up the neck of the mask. These are my two biggest collar issues.

They use velcro if needed. The hero h40 had this layout and I’m sure if they needed it on kills it would be similar.

I spray starched the collar on mine. It’ll stay up in a rainstorm now

It happens, even in the 78 film H4 had the button done up at the top and the neck extension stuffed in

Do you spray and just let it dry or use an iron?

I just sprayed it and waited until is was mostly dry, then hand molded the shape of the collar to how I wanted it.

Excellent!!! Any clue on what store carry’s starch spray? This may sound silly but I’ve never heard nor seen a bottle of it in my lifetime.

I picked some up yesterday in the fabric section of Hobby Lobby. Was planning to use it on ghost decorations. Pretty cool timing to come across this topic. I never thought about using it on my collar.
