NAG and NOP: two legends among the Myers community for their highly accurate masks to the original Kirks and, more importantly, the original Shape. I see a lot of talk about the masks, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a proper comparison between the two. I will be receiving a Creep in the near-future, personally, as it’s more easily-affordable and, to me, holds the best screen-accuracy to the original mask. But I wanted to know: what are the differences with the Creep and the 75K besides pricepoint? I wanna know what the minute differences are between the two masks, and what exactly makes the 75k and the Creep so prevalent as “THE” penultimate Shapes.
Creep looks way more accurate to me, I believe it has lineage to a real 75 Kirk like his nmm78 and psycho. The 75k I thought comes from a don post 98 or 99 recast or something, the head as well as the features look a bit bloated to me and the details are washed out a lot compared the creep. Love nightowls stuff
The 98 proto shatner is a 75 kirk mold.
What’s funny is the kirk that was used for the nightowl stuff is from the same mold as the 98 prototype kirk. There are markings and flaws on the neck that line up exactly. I can tell because I used to have the nightmare master copy and it’s also from the same kirk as the other nightowl stuff.
Yes, all of Nik’s kirk based masks come from either the Don Post prototype of the 98 Kirk (which is a 75 kirk pull) or from the Nightmare (which is cast off of a kirk made in 81 from the same mold)
So, from what I’m getting at in these discussions, the NAG 75Ks are later Kirk masks that have been painstakingly made to look more like Myers masks, and the Creep is a straight up Myers mask with lineage to the original 75 Kirks or a later 98 Shatner? So, it really is just down to preference then on which one looks closer to your own particular eye.
Yes. This. I’d love to see the two masks side-by-side. Perhaps I don’t have as keen an eye, but if there are substantial differences, it’d be nice to comb through both.
The Psycho was his main myers mask before the creep. You can view it in the gallery here. It’s also the mold for the “elrod” or boogeyman mask that tots makes.
Ahh. Neat. So ToTs now has the Psycho as far as accuracy goes. I find that neat, and maybe I’ll get a ToTs Boogeyman for rehaul so that I can put it on display. Thanks for your thoughts on the 75K and Creep as well, by the by. It helps me understand a little more why people compare the two and have preferences on which is more accurate.
Yea I always loved the psycho, and I realize part of that is nostalgia as it was the big popular mask that came out right as I got into the hobby. I do think it pulls off a myers look better than the creep (it’s particularly good at the closet scene look).
I am happy to help. This can all be overwhelming and I find it all so fun and there is a rich history with all these indy masks.
I mean, everything I’ve seen of the Creep personally pulls off the Myers look exceptionally well, particularly the 78 and 81 stretches. I recall seeing posts from Kaizu with his own Creeps. So, again. Likely personal preference.
