Yes the TOTS H40 is definitely haired similar to how the Kirks were. The new TOTS Boogeyman is also haired like the H40, and has pretty nice hair.
So if we are talking TOTS masks, the closest to how the Kirks were haired, is the H40 and TOTS Boogeyman. Most everything else in their Myers line is haired with the same method used on Don Post’s “The Mask”.
He has! I’ve seen them in person and they’re great. The reason I’ve yet to update parts of the thread is my busy schedule, but the most accurate masks section may be scrapped as a whole.
Hello everyone, great thread I love it
I’m new here and I’m only 16. I’ve been a Halloween fan for a couple of years now and I would like to get a relatively decent 1978 mask. I want to get a tots mask to start with but I can’t chose between the regular 78 mask and the boogeyman mask. They both look pretty good in photos but I’ve heard pros and cons about them both. I was wondering if anyone here has any suggestions as to which one to get? Which one is more accurate? What’s some of the pros and cons? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m also not sure if this is the right place to post this and I’m sorry if it isn’t.
Like I tell everyone who asks for mask recommendations, it’s always gonna be up to you. Look at customer photos rather than the TOTS website, and decide which looks better. The Boogeyman is more accurate to the 1975 Kirk, but I believe the 78 mask looks more like Myers from the film. It’s all up to you. If this helps, here is an image of my rehauled 78 mask. It’s a game changer for $60 really
thank you so much for responding.
its almost impossible to get an accurate mask due to head shapes, paint, lighting etc. but I totally agree for $60 it is a great canvas for a rehaul. I am leaning more towards the boogeyman because of the hair and its apparent lineage to a 75 kirk. I just hope its capable of pulling off a castle stretch. I read somewhere that Justin Mabry sculpted a 78 mask for H18 and Christopher nelson then sculpted on all the cracks and distorted it a little bit. I wonder if that 78 mask before it was modified is the same as any of the tots masks? since apparently we maybe getting a flashback in Halloween kills. by the way your photos look amazing. great job with the mask!
They are not a match to the H5s unfortunately. Missing the toe design, straight stitching on the sides, silver rivet at the end of the stitching, and the commando soles.
For sure! The file is taking forever, its huge! Started it last night, let it download overnight, still has 23% to go! lol. I’ll make sure to post them asap, you’ve been killing it lately with the ID’s, many of which I need to update here.
It’s honestly been a lot of fun for me too, it gives my mind something to fix on, not just because we have a definitive guide, but because we can say that we have found everything after so many years, and it’s fun for me, since I do tend to fixate on a lot of stuff quickly
It is extremely fun. Not even just with Myers movies, but all of these other horror films have so many unidentified wardrobe brands and origins of their masks. Like Texas chainsaw massacre, for a while now I’ve been on the hunt for what cowboy boots leather face wore in the first film. Up until now I thought they were plain boots, as a few pairs have sold as being “screen used” from the first film, but with recent analysis the boots have a very unique design on them, finding those has been next to impossible! Lol.
It is all like a huge puzzle. Delving into it and spending time hunting online, frame by framing the film to find clear shots of ways to identify it, and the feeling of pay off when you do is great. People probably think we’re crazy, oh well! Lol
